With Christmas fast approaching there's many of us who have just as many questions as answers. As Christian's we may wonder if there is a particular way we need to engage in this season? How do we celebrate well? What do we celebrate? How do we cultivate joy filled rhythms in the beauty of this season? What about those who are lonely and isolated and much more?

Tim Keller used to teach that we must discern how we can affirm and challenge culture. This weeks EP will help us see what we may affirm and what we may challenge culturally with Christmas from a gospel perspective.

We're looking at doing a couple of conversations around the topic of Mental Health, Trauma and Identity.

In Australia, over 2 in 5 (44%) people aged 16–85 were estimated to experience a mental illness at some time in their life (about 8.6 million people).

In the US, more than 1 in 5 adults live with a mental illness.

In England, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind every year.

These stats, along many others, are staggering and represent a particular pain so many of us carry everyday. Part of making a difference in this area means increasing awareness and removing the stigma around experienced mental health issues. But we must also seek to have conversations around how the gospel speaks into our state of humanity and how it helps us engage with our experienced suffering and those around us in a biblical manner.

As this is a topic that impacts so many areas of our lives (friends, families, relationships, work health, etc) I would love to do a short series on it sometime in the New Year, but for now I hope these next couple of EP's will be helpful in how we can better approach this topic.
