Hi team, I’m incredibly proud to announce that RedHook’s second album, Mutation, has debuted at #1 on the ARIA Australian Album Chart! Managing RedHook for the past six years has been an incredible journey, and together, we’ve built this band brick by brick—the old-school way: touring tirelessly and consistently releasing great music.
We’ve achieved this milestone through our own label, RedHook Records, via DistroKid distribution, remaining 100% independent in Australia. This achievement is a powerful reminder to all of us in the music industry that hard work still matters—and with patience, it often pays off in the end.
Here are a few key lessons I’ve learned from the RedHook journey so far:
Carve Your Own Path
RedHook is unapologetically unique. Their music spans multiple genres, defying easy categorization, and their style stands out in the heavy music space. What initially felt like a weakness has become their greatest strength, setting them apart from the pack and cultivating a loyal following. Fans have joined RedHook on their journey as they continue to push boundaries musically, lyrically, and stylistically.
Take Me to Your Leader
Great bands have great leaders—and for RedHook, that leader is Emmy Mack. Emmy’s determination, vision, and relentless work ethic inspire me daily and have been instrumental in shaping RedHook into the band they are today. Of course, no leader succeeds alone. Craig, Alex, and Ned have each stepped into leadership roles in songwriting, merchandise, tour management, and production, creating a cohesive and dynamic team.
Stay In The Game
These things take time—I learned this from my own journey with Gyroscope. It took 7 years before we released our first album and 11 years before achieving mainstream success with Breed Obsession. Understanding the patience required in this industry and committing to the long game allows you to make decisions that build and compound over time.
Thank you to Emmy, Craig, Alex, and Ned for trusting me to manage your careers. Onwards and Upwards
🤜 🤛

Send a message to The Hen House Rehearsal Studios:
The Hen House Rehearsal Studios were opened on the 1st of May 2010 with a simple goal of inspiring West Australian bands to write their best songs. It’s a goal that even 10 years later drives us forward in thinking about how we can create an environment that is equal parts fun, creative and most of all community driven.
The inspiration for The Hen House was born out of a desire that I found was missing in other rehearsal studios. Around 2009 I had grown tired of the unclean and poorly soundproofed rehearsal spaces my band Gyroscope had spent the past few years in and decided to take matters into my own hands creating The Hen House Rehearsal Studios.
The Hen House now consists of 17 rooms across 2 warehouses at our Osborne Park location. We have top of the line PA’s, Mixing desks, Mic’s and Stands in every room as well as the all important over spec’d split system air cons. We spend far too much money on artwork, but believe it helps create the vibe needed for inspiring creativity...We also like mood lighting and have dimmer switches in every room.
Over the years we have been the launching pad for some of Perth’s finest bands including Tired Lion, The Faim, The Love Junkies and Pat Chow and are proud to be the rehearsal space of choice for world class bands like Karnivool, Birds of Tokyo, Methyl Ethyl and Tame Impala.
No Matter what your level or experience, we’d love to welcome you to The Hen House and help you nail those music dreams. From my experience in Gyroscope to now managing The Faim and RedHook, we have a wealth of experience to help your band at any level. All the best. Rob Nassif (Owner)
