A wedding tonight at Perth City Farm. A very interesting venue, essentially a blank canvas for vendors to transform into something wonderful. From what I saw during setup, all the vendors are certainly creating some magic in there!

Huge night last night at Quarry Farm WA celebrating the wedding of Nikita and Gary Foster. Everything about the night was beautiful, from the speeches and toasts through to the family and friends that came to share the joy. Just a great group of people who were up for a great time. Thanks to you all for being such a lovely crowd to work with. Feeling extremely blessed to have such a great job!

Just home from working a lovely wedding at Avonlea Farm in Darlington. A beautiful location just outside of Midland, yet with a real country vibe.
Becky and Peter made a gorgeous couple, and their kids did them proud with some of the most entertaining speeches we have ever heard!
All in all a splendid evening. Great guests, fabulous food and a warm family atmosphere.
Great stuff!

Another awesome night at Bright Blue Disco - Northern Suburbs! The kids were incredible fun and danced the night away. Massive kudos to all the parents, your children are a credit to you!

Wow! What a fabulous night! Best attendance yet at Wembley since we took over entertainment duties. Awesome crowd of parents and children, all having a great time. Just what we love to see. Huge thanks to the police and cadets and of course the volunteers who make it all possible.

A bit of final preparation before we hit the road and head on past Mandurah for our New Year's gig. A private party at a home tonight, so it should have a nice down-home feel to it. Classic Rock fans too, judging by the playlist, so it'll be good to crank out some classic tracks without too much need for Kanye or Bieber!

So, today has been emotional but empowering. The emotional part is that we are booked for a wedding next year for a couple. I'd been waiting for them to make a deposit / booking fee. I sent a friendly reminder this morning and got a call back from the groom who apologised for being late in paying and explained that they are struggling as he has been fighting cancer of the brain and now lungs, and could they please hold off on paying the deposit until after Christmas.
A quick bit of Googling brought up a GoFundMe his fiancee has set up trying to raise money for his medical bills. I had no idea he was even ill.
It made me stop and think; here I am with a reasonably successful business doing what I love, and a family and the finances to enjoy life to a decent degree without worrying about how the bills are going to be paid. Then here's this young couple battling through this devastating situation, apologising to me because they can't make the deposit until after Christmas because of the medical bills.

The empowering bit was a no-brainer. I make enough. I've got plenty of gigs coming in. Enough to keep food on our table and a roof over our heads. Anything more is a bonus. Obvious decision is offer to do their wedding free of charge. It's Christmas after all, and I'm in a position where I can afford to forego one gig fee to take considerable financial burden off the shoulders of this young couple.

I have no idea what the prognosis is for this young man. I don't want to even ask. All I know is that they deserve a great wedding and all the happiness in the world. I'm really glad I found myself in a position to be able to contribute towards that in some small way. Ultimately, it's a day out of my life doing something I enjoy, just without someone chucking a grand my way. No biggie in the grander scheme of things. To them, it's a grand they can use to fight this horrible disease just a little bit longer and harder.

Friends, I don't usually do this kind of thing, but if any of you are able, consider donating a little something to them. I'm sure they could use it. Let them know we care.
