Purple Enemy No.1
🟣Ross the Boss.🟣
Ross Lyon was adamant he did not stab Mark Harvey in the back when he took the reins as Fremantle’s Head Coach after his shock departure from St Kilda.
The footy world was stunned in September 2011 when Lyon advised St Kilda he would be leaving. Using an escape clause, Lyon was able to walk out on his final year of his contract. While this was taking place, on the other side of the country, Harvey had been advised of his contract termination with a year left to run.
Ironically, the day Ross the Boss landed in Perth was the same day Harvey and his family were leaving. Harvey taking off at 8:00am while Lyon touched down at 8:30am.
During his time at Fremantle, Ross the Boss was the first Coach to take Freo to our first Grand Final appearance, in 2013, and held the title of winning the most games as Fremantle Head Coach.
In a strange turn of events, after failing to take Freo to the Finals in four consecutive seasons, it would be Lyon that got the sack despite being contracted for another year. A lot of mixed emotions was seen from players, staff, supporters and the footy world when this news broke, with some LOL’s (Laughing out loud) and some supporting the exiting coach.
With Ross the Boss back at the Saints, preparing to coach his first official game of the season that happens to be against Freo, something tells me will be personal…
That’s why he is the Purple Enemy No.1 🟣
