We started a new tradition this year — Secret Santa, matching Grinch PJs… and actually zero stress this year!

Tbh, this is exactly why I started building Outward In.
To take time off without stress.
To be present without guilt.
To wrap presents without mentally re writing my to do list.

We’ve still got washing on the table, dinner dishes, wrapping paper everywhere, and a dog who’s was soaking wet from the kids water right…

But I wouldn’t change a thing.

Secret Santa was a hit.
The kids were buzzing.
And for the first time in ages, I wasn’t stressed about having the house clean or 10 salads to make!!

It’s easy to forget why you started.
This season brought me right back to it:
Freedom, presence, family first — not just in theory, but actually lived.

Controversial opinion: You don’t need a VA — here’s what you need instead.

Every time I talk to a fitness coach who’s overwhelmed, stressed, or drowning in admin, I hear the same thing:

“I need a VA.”

And look… I get it.
But here’s the truth no one wants to say out loud:

A VA doesn’t magically fix a messy backend.
They just inherit the sh@t show!

Most coaches bring on a VA before they understand their own systems, and here’s what happens:

⚡️ They realise they don’t even know what to delegate.
⚡️ The VA is confused because there are no processes.
⚡️ Tasks get missed.
⚡️ The coach blames the VA.
⚡️ But the real issue? The business is built on a shambles!

A VA (or an OBM) can absolutely help streamline everything…
but only once YOU know your own process.

Here’s what has to come first:

✨ Mapping out what actually happens in your business
✨ Seeing the gaps, bottlenecks, and double handling
✨ Creating simple workflows
✨ Cleaning up your onboarding and client journey
✨ Understanding what tasks actually exist

Because once your systems are clear?

THEN a VA becomes powerful.
THEN they know exactly what to do.
THEN they can help you scale instead of firefight.

Corporate comms taught me the simplest lesson… and most coaches are still missing it.

and THIS is what it came back with.

Apparently, I haven’t just been the OBM.
I’ve been the:

Project manager
Systems designer
Marketing strategist
Launch planner
Tech specialist
Operations lead
Admin support
Accountability partner
Emotional support

…all in ONE.

And honestly?
It made me realise exactly why I’m shifting my business model.

Because I’m not meant to be the entire operations department inside someone else’s business.
