We are always looking to feature local original musicians in the Rock n Metal genre, in particular Aboriginal artists, so please PM us with your suggestions and information on single and album launches, gigs, and band activity. We will be happy to promote your music and even have you visit the studio as our special guests during a live show. We will play samples sent to us and mention gigs in our

gig guide. We also enjoy celebrating the birthdays of local artists and sharing messages and song requests from our audience so please PM us with those. We aknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people as custodians of this beautiful land, and pay respects to elders past, present, and emerging. It is our honour to be granted the priviledge of a platform for this music genre on the Noongar Community Radio station. We aim to utilise our air time graciously serving the Noongar community through song, and hopefully educating the general public by drawing new loyal audiences in to this station through promoting our show. For episode 196 Tam has been inspired by watching Glam Funk Band last Friday doing an ABBA gig so stay tuned for some Rokkin ripper metal ABBA covers 🤘🪩 after that gig with Jamie Harskamp on drums they then raced over to catch his brother Matt Harskamp in the awesome rock cover band ERA (we love checking out a great cover band!) so we have some glam rock inspired music from that experience.

Today is National Sorry Day - a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.
We on the Rock and Metal Show are deeply regretful and sorry for the wrongs of the past.

On this day in 1970 Janis Joplin, the queen of Psychedelic Soul, sadly passed away after an accidental heroin overdose mixed with alcohol intake after a long battle with addiction and mental illness. She was only a tender age of 27 and at the height of a wonderful career with no boundaries to her talent. Janice remains one of the United States top selling musicians with over 15.5 million albums sold. Unfortunately, like so many others, a successful career only exacerbated her inner demons and made 'self treatment ' through addiction more accessible. If only she had of read that letter waiting for her at reception... 😢 Thanks for the music, Janice. Immortalized through song 🎶

Tonight at 7pm we are lucky enough to be scrapping our scheduled show because we snapped up a last minute guest band to join us all the way from Brisbane! They played Convenients on Saturday and impressed Tam SO much she begged them to come in for a chat, lucky us they agreed! So, if you've never heard of Death By Carrot before, or you have heard them and are a massive fan (because who wouldn't be!) With many decades of passion for the rock and heavy metal genre behind us, doing The Rock & Metal Show is just like another friday night at home when we would get out the vinyl collection and play a vast array of local and international bands, classics to new music, from the top 40 hits to the rare and obscure, and anything from glam power ballads to the fast paced heavier tunes.

We are Tam & Jay, your Rock and Metal Show hosts. We met at a metal gig (Snakes on a Stage in 2007), doubled our music collection when we moved in together, and played Iron Maiden on our wedding day. Together we have loyally followed many local Perth bands and made many friends in the music networks. We aim to share the music from these talented home-grown artists on the show as well as get them in the studio for interviews, songs, and album launches.

Knowing that the rock and metal fanclub in WA is rather niche but very loyal, we hope to play the music you love and were hoping for, and introduce you to something new that you will enjoy. Feel free to PM us for requests, suggestions, and feedback, and we will endeavour to make this a show you look forward to every week.
