Working with shadows can make some shoots tricky, but nothing a reflector and some editing can't make light work of!

Also, working with kids... I am lucky I can practice often with my very own sometimes unwilling subjects! It is good practice.

My son told me one of his dreams came true today; he got to ride Kit at the beach! And being a nice quiet morning, I had a ride around after as well.

Poor Kit, he didn't think he had to work at the beach and got a bit tired from time to time, but considering he hasn't been to the beach in a very long time, he was such a good boy! My son said he could have just slept on Kit there all day xx

Big thank you to Bayley for bringing the overgrown pony down to make a boys dream come true. And to Tahlia for having dogs to entertain my younger kids and having horses to keep Kit company when it was just us left at the beach!

Absolutely stunning evening at the beach! Took the 3 kids down and met my parents with the puppy as well!

Weather was ideal; wind low, still warm and no waves. I had 3 beautiful horses to photograph as well and got inspired for a future photoshoot in a perfect spot along the beach (but the time of day will need to be perfect)!

Photos should be up tomorrow afternoon, as I'm taking the kids, dog and a horse (with my sister) again in the morning.

I'm still planning for the beach this evening for those who might be interested. The wind changed a bit from yesterdays forecast so we do have a Southerly which means it will be a little choppy but moving ESE around 6pm with sunset for approx 7.25pm.

I am thinking between 5/5.30 I will get there for anyone who may like to come across!

It was the most unique lighting at the beach this morning that I have ever photographed! I am looking through the action photos and I love them with barely any editing needed; just playing with the highlights to emphasis the water, horizon and sky!

Saturday, 18th January
The last of the beach photos from Saturday are uploading. It's been slow going today; with the heat today I have had 3 boys stuck inside all day so its been a bit hectic here!

Informally, I will be at the beach tomorrow morning. I will have my camera, but also the kids and ponies, so happy to take some snaps if anyone is there and would like.

I am also planning a dusk trip on Wednesday, all going well. The forecast is for some cloud cover which should make for a stunning backdrop. I will confirm this trip on Wednesday morning.

Quick Beach gallery update- it's well past bed time for me so I thought I would update quickly; there are still about 200 photos from Saturday and 500 photos from today to come.

Another splendid morning at the beach with the horses! The dolphins were back in full form this morning after only seeing them sparingly this summer season, followed by one of the busiest days at the beach this season as well!

Today, we also ! So photos from today will also see 50% of sales* go to the cause. I am working through the photos, with about 1,000 to go from across the 2 days. Once galleries are complete, sales to contribute toward the fundraiser must be finalised within 7 days of the galleries being completed to ensure we get the donation in promptly. I will make a post when they are all done.

Morning all. With a few hold ups the morning, so I will be at the beach from about 8am instead of my usual 7am. Apologies for any inconvenience.

I'm slowly catching up on everything, and after creating QR codes for others recently, I realised I really should do one for myself. This will make it easier when out and about for people to scan and find my site for their images.

I am having these printed as business cards and a couple of small banners/signs for events (where permitted) as well.

It might have been a touch cooler today, but the water was the warmest it has been in weeks! So we kicked of the weekend with some cracker shots.

A nice steady flow of horses makes it perfect to get some special shots for everyone, including one of the last photos I took this morning; this cracker of Jesse and Ellie having a canter through the water!

After we finished at the beach, I was off to help sell lollies and chocolates to contribute toward the fundraiser at the Dale Athletic Centre, where they were also hosting a event. So now I am home, the photos have been sorted and imported ready for post production! I'll be getting stuck into these this afternoon and evening (I will post the link when uploads start) before I head back to the beach again tomorrow.

Please remember 50% sales this weekend and from this weekend will go toward the fundraiser.

This picture is to represent the signs at the horse beach car park and the City of Rockinghan boundary. The blue dotted line is the City of Rockingham boundary (sourced from Intramaps) for the local government. The city has previously confirmed with me that Intramaps is a correct record for the boundary.

I encourage all horse owners who attend this beach to have this saved in their phones should they wish to venture past the drains on the beach; where it appears you are actually permitted to. Today, I was lectured by a dog owner about horses being on parts of the beach illegally. He told me he has actually photographed, followed to the carpark to get licence plate and then reported to the council people before. The person actually had the nerve to tell me that that is just my "interpretation of the sign and boundary" and "how do [you] know the city boundary from the map" even if the council confirmed the accuracy.

Note: If you do decide to venture past the drain, please be mindful as there is more "rock" than beach beyond a certain point. Please also be aware that you should be collecting your manure from the beach, wash bays and car park and discarding appropriately.

It is worth noting, the rider is riding at a sit trot here so no rise when the outside leg is forward.

This weekend is for the Hennessy family! As 2025 kicks off tomorrow, with the public being welcome for the 9.30am run, I will be photographing the Kwinana Grain Beach from 7am to 10/10.30am, with 50% of sales from this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) going toward the cause!

From there I will be heading to the Dale Athletics Centre to attend the Run for Ryan event, and join Jane Fisher and Bayley Thomas in selling some goodies to continue to raise funds.
