Mambray Creek Campground in SA!

A short drive from the main road heading south from Pt Augusta in the Mount Remarkable NP and what looks like some pretty average scrub then turns into a pretty nice NP campground in the foothills.

Facilities and the amenities are pretty good with firepits on each site. We got a spot on the hillside of the park which I recommend and there was some pretty cracking views. No dogs are allowed unfortunately but there is plenty of walking tracks to explore and there is some pretty good views to be had also.

It cost us $32 for myself and the 2 kids. Recommend this one for all types of camping.

This is Thick Trees Camp which is a free camp approx. 50km east of Ceduna in SA!

We found this spot on wikicamps, no facilities just the bush, there's plenty of room which is approx. 100m from the road at the back fence. Little bit of road noise but it wasn`t too bad.

Bucket List free camping on the Bunda Cliffs! This was 7th time we have crossed the Nullabor and getting weather that allows you to enjoy this place isn`t always easy to get and this was the first time we stayed here.

In saying that we had a freak storm and wind gusts blow up a couple of times during the night that made me a little nervous being a solo parent in a Camper trailer so close to a big cliff with 2 kids but it was worth it when the clouds cleared.

There is also plenty of options to camp back towards the inland more if thats more comfortable for you. There is a few turn offs from the main road so I can definitely recommend exploring and finding something that you like for yourself.

Lake Cowan WA is a nice and spacious free camp which is about 30km north of Norseman which is when you hit the straights and head to the East of Aus from the west.

This is about 7-8 hrs drive from Perth. There isn`t any facilities and it is very close to an active train line and if you like keep things more interesting there is the noise from the highway of the road trains that run till about midnight. We were lucky enough to experience 6 trains during the night of our stop over.

A bit of noise doesn`t bother us but it might annoy the soft sleepers. We enjoyed our overnighter here and you can`t complain about some outback Camping that's Free!

Lake Cowan WA!

This is a free camp approx. 30km north of Norseman before we begin the drive East! Approx. an 8 hr drive from perth... Only downside to this spot is that its very close to a train line and the man road from Kalgoorlie and plenty of road
trains!

This was also the first Camping trip with the New Ford Ranger and the mods (spottys, roof rack, towing mirrors, fridge slide & seat covers) thanks to Vicoffroad There is a link in our bio if you are interested in any 4x4 gear for yourself with a discount!

Does an outback sunrise get any better than this?

Lake Cowan rest area was deliciously close to the train line... and the 6 trains that powered past us during the night made for a unique experience!

Kids got the Camp fire cranking and it was a great way to start the trip across Aus!

Baladjie Rock in the wheatbelt of WA!

This is a free camp that has a flushing toilet as the only facilities. The views are pretty amazing, you can walk up the rock to enjoy a view of the Sale lake and surrounds.

The Sunset was pretty good and the road in was gravel which was well maintained and comfortably accessible for any vehicle without hassle. There`s plenty of room to find a spot for yourself.
