Talgard Artist Profile - Dr. Paul Mason
Dr. Paul Mason (DVA) is an award-winning cartoonist, and animation concept designer, who has worked for companies such as Frew Publications (The Phantom, Kid Phantom), Gestalt Comics (Flock, Eldritch Kid: Bone War), and A Stark Production (The Deep Series animated series season 4). He is also a part-time Level B Lecturer in storyboarding, art direction, animation pre-production, comics and visual storytelling as part of the Bachelor of Animation program at the Griffith Film School, Griffith University.

Jana is a comic artist, illustrator and writer from Adelaide, South Australia. She is the creator of 'The Lonely Giant', a Comic Arts Awards of Australia short-listed comic book.
She grew up with dreams of wielding swords and magic like Alanna of Trebond, deftly manipulating political opponents like Mara of the Acoma and having the strength of conviction made manifest like Egwene al'Vere.

Talgard Artist Profile - Daniel A. Becker
Daniel was born and raised in New Mexico. He has been producing original art and self-published comics since 2015. His first ongoing adventure/fantasy series, "Master & Apprentice" is now available as a graphic novel, part of which was short-listed for the 2020 Ledger Awards.
Titles with other writers include the SciFi superhero series "Tinsuits" and the historical nonfiction graphic novel series "POLIS: the Trial of Socrates”. He currently lives in Wollongong, Australia. Find more of his work at www.invisibleinkstudio.com

Talgard artist profile: Tim McEwen
Our TALGARD: TOME TWO sword-and-sorcery anthology, currently funding on Zoop, features nineteen Australian comic artists, with scripts written specifically for each of them by Gary Proudley.
Tim McEwen is a film storyboard and concept artist, cartoonist, illustrator, graphic designer and comic book creator.
He’s taught comics creation, theory and history at all education levels from primary schools to tertiary institutes, and has also taught drawing, concept art, figure drawing, character design, storyboarding and much more.
His most notable comic book work is GREENER PASTURES (with Michael Michalandos). Nominated for 16 OzCon Awards, it won two, has been featured in numerous exhibitions nationwide, and has fans worldwide.
Tim has been a prominent member of the Australian comics scene since the early 1990s, not only for his own works but also in fostering the community. Through comics distribution, community outreach, speaking engagements, the re-ignition of the The Ledger Awards for excellence in Australian comics, his advocacy work through Supanova Comic Con & Gaming and the Australian Cartoonists Association, and many other activities, Tim has striven to advance the place of Australian comics makers and Australian comic books in general.
Tim art directed Supanova Pop Culture Expo, which he co-founded in 2002, for most of its first 18 years.

Talgard artist profile: Queenie Chan
Our TALGARD: TOME TWO sword-and-sorcery anthology features nineteen Australian comic artists, with scripts written specifically for each of them by Gary Proudley.
Queenie's first published work was a 3-volume mystery-horror series called THE DREAMING for manga publisher Tokyopop, which has been translated into multiple languages.
She has since collaborated on several single-volume graphic novels with best-selling author Dean Koontz, as prequels to his ODD THOMAS series of novels, and with Kylie Chan to produce SMALL SHEN. She followed this up with her own series, FABLED KINGDOM, a fairy-tale inspired trilogy.
Currently, she is working on a series of non-fiction children’s graphic novels called WOMEN WHO WERE KINGS, a collection of biographies about the lives of famous historical queens from all over the world.

We've long been fans of the inimitable Dean Rankine, professionally AND personally, so we were giggling profusely when he agreed to illustrate a story.
Dean Rankine is a Ledger and Stanley Award winning comic book artist and writer best known for his work on Simpsons Comics. His other credits include; Futurama, Rick and Morty, Invader Zim, Underdog, Oggy and the cockroaches and The Riverdale Diaries: Starring Veronica. He's the illustrator on the Timmy the Ticked-Off Pony series - written by Magda Szubanski. And the writer/illustrator on the new book series - Death Metal Emo Elves.

We were fortunate to secure the sought after Perth-based artist Lauren Marshall aka TheMarshallArts for a four page story! Lauren is the creator of the self-published title LANA LEUKA. Other published works include The Phantom (Frew Publications), Killeroo, and XCT Xtreme Champion Tournament (Comics2movies). Her work embraces both traditional and digital methods, with a style that encompasses bold lines and dynamic figure work.

Talgard Tome Two Artist Profile - Campbell Whyte
Our TALGARD: TOME TWO sword-and-sorcery anthology features nineteen Australian comic artists, with scripts written specifically for each of them by Gary Proudley.
We're honoured to count Campbell Whyte among the artists for this anthology. His graphic novel series, HOME TIME is a distinctly Australian fantasy series set in Perth that Shaun Tan described as "Beautifully realised, funny, smart, weird and surprisingly epic in scope." Campbell is currently busy working on his new book, Luna Express.
When not making comics, Campbell runs the children’s school of art and stories, Milktooth with Elizabeth Marruffo and is Program Director of the Perth Comic Arts Festival.
