Thorn Park on the island is located at Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island: one of the state’s most popular and spectacular tourist destinations. Thirty minutes by plane or a forty-five-minute ferry trip from the mainland of South Australia. The property is located on three acres on the hill looking down over the town and harbour of Penneshaw. The house has recently undergone extensive enlargement and re
novations. It is light and bright with large north facing windows that provide an expansive view of the ocean, township and countryside. The property is furnished with high quality furniture and artworks, but maintains a relaxed and comfortable seaside ambience. The home is surrounded by native bushland that is home to abundant birdlife, numerous wallabies, kangaroos and is the feeding ground for the endangered glossy black cockatoo. Thorn Park on the island is suited to groups of two to four people and is fully hosted with dinners and breakfast included. THE BEDROOMS:

David Hay is a celebrated cook: and “dining” at Thorn Park on the island means to enjoy world-class contemporary Australian cuisine. Dinner is offered nightly at the exquisite 1830’s French walnut farmhouse table and includes wines from the property’s extensive wine cellar. It is a ‘set’ menu, that changes daily and utilises fresh regional produce. Mornings start with breakfast that is of the type one always wishes for and rarely finds! Everything is homemade, from the delicious granola and fresh muesli, to the jams and preserves. Freshly squeezed juices, brewed teas and perfect coffees compliment the delicious, cooked dishes. Thorn Park on the island has an extensive wine cellar, mainly featuring wines from Kangaroo Island, the Clare Valley and other wine regions; along with French Champagnes. Add to this, quality spirits and aperitif wines. All wines and beverages are included in the tariff.
