Episode 20 - The Cost of Living Challenges in 2024
This week, we continue discussing issues that affect individuals in 2024, and this is a big one: "The Cost of Living Changes," with Tully Smith, a man running for Point Cook Council.
Tully grew up with his younger brother just over the border from Wyndham, in potato growing and sheep-farming country in regional Moorabool Shire. A qualified plaster by trade, his dad now works in traffic control, and his mother is an in-home aged care worker. His parents still reside in the home he grew up in. Growing up in a working-class family, Tully was raised with the values around hard work, family, mate ship, and loyalty - these values he will bring to Wyndham City Council and our show.
Tully understands what it takes to create a strong economy and how to create jobs. After Telstra, Tully went on to serve as General Manager with the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia and then as CEO of the Australia India Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a Trustee with the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA). In 2023, Tully led Australia’s largest delegation of business leaders to the B20 Business Summit in India.
