Sometimes people come into your life and they change you profoundly. This is a universal phenomenon. It could be a friend, mentor or significant other. This change can be a positive growth or can make you see the world through a lens of deception and betrayal.

This is Finnegan my mentor. He was and is the horse that changed me forever. He has been drawn for me as a very special keep sake. This is a moment in time that I will always treasure because of what he gave me.

Finnegan, was my teacher and I have become a better person because of the journey he took me on. Yes there are many who have changed me but he gave me something no one else could. An insight into my soul.

Once you understand and feel the magic that a powerful horse can have on you, you will be forever changed. My eyes were opened. And then once you see it you can’t unsee it.

Apparently you become like the 6 people you hang out with. So choose your friends wisely and choose those who change you for the better.

Today marked a significant milestone in our lives as we celebrated the pouring of the slab for our new home. We indulged in a good bottle of bubbly and virtually walked through our dream home, visualizing every detail. As the sun set on this momentous day, we looked ahead to 2024 with great anticipation, knowing that it will be a year filled with exciting changes and growth.

Our 25th anniversary (6th wedding) plans are in full swing for New Zealand. With family and friends helping us celebrate 🍾 which we are really looking forward to.

Excited about our kids joining in on the magical adventure later in the year.

We reflected on the fact we have so many amazing things to be thankful for today.

Lady Duck is representing us at Strathalbyn’s Great Duck Race for her maiden voyage down the Angas River.

I am so excited as this my first duck race too. Thanks to The Rotary Club of Strathalbyn for putting on such a wonderful event. It’s certainly the talk of the town.

Let’s see how she goes on Sunday I will be cheering her on and all her little ducklings from the side line.

Another gorgeous morning.

I often walk first thing in the morning before the sun is up. There is incredible beauty and peace in these moments.

You hear tweets of the small birds calling to each other as they start their day. You can feel the tranquility and possibilities of the day ahead coming to life.

It’s a morning ritual that started many years ago. It has allowed space for my brain to be quiet, for conversations with my husband, for sights to be seen and to feel part of a community. It has helped with a sense of connection. Connection to myself, a connection to others and a connection to the place I am in.

I moved to Strathalbyn a year ago and it is such a beautiful town. The spaces and people are so welcoming. But walking around it in the morning is definitely special it has helped to make it feel like home.

As I wandered this morning and feeling a sense of gratitude I wondered what other rituals or things people do.

What other things helps bring a sense of peace or gratitude that helps you?

This is beautiful, understanding and knowing how to be where your feet are.

❤️Still learning how to do this better myself.

You may believe that living life to the fullest is seeing every country in the world and quitting your job on a whim and falling recklessly in love.

But it's really just knowing how to be where your feet are.

It's learning how to take care of yourself, how to make a home within your own skin.

It's learning how to build a simple life you are proud of.

A life most fully lived is not always composed of the the things that rock you awake, but those that slowly assure it's ok to slow down.

That you don't always have to prove yourself.

That you don't need to fight forever.

Or constantly want more.

That it's ok for things to be just as they are.

And when those big moments come, which they will, you'll feel them in a way you couldn't before.

You'll appreciate them because you'll be able to fully be in them.

Little by little, you will begin to see that life can only grow outward in porportion to how stable it is inward.

That if the joy is not in the little things first, the big things don't fully find us.
