Got a green light with this custom build to further chase elements I'm striving to be able to pull off with more grace and ease. I love the contrast of forged texture and the ground bevels. Chased after that forged geometry and distal taper again as well as trying my hand at doing a tapered tang. Felt a little cross-eyed for awhile trying to get everything straight and even 🤪.

Some specs:
210mm x 56mm of etched and polished 1084.
Handle is stabilised spalted tamarind ( courtesy of ), with black G10 liners and pins.
weight is 238g

An older bar of 1084 just keeps on delivering that stunning alloy banding! Bar is nearly gone through 😭

Another year at the Adelaide Knife Show getting some supplies and swag.
Another year that little miss edgeworks gets to put the charm on some makers....just watch out and probably don't give her a sword again...woops 😅

And here is the "twin" to my last post. Made from the same bar of steel in the same design. Just had to tweak the handle dimensions due to the fat 🍑 weight of the ebony 🤣

Specs;
- 205 x 44 x 3 mm k-tip from Takefu V-Toku 2 high carbon san mai with 10 layer soft cladding.
- Handle is Wa-style octagonal shape made from a single piece of black and white ebony from and a black G10 spacer.
- OVA length is 355mm
- 172 grams
- Balance point is just in front of the blade heel.

Finally getting around to post the first of these twin K-tips!!
It's been busy here at Allen Edgeworks with lots happening in the background for exciting projects in the future.
Client wished for a very particular style knife modelled from a similar Japanese model, but obviously with my own flair.
Found a piece of I'd been hoarding for way too long, which was perfect for this job.

Specs of this piece;
- 205 x 44 x 3mm Takefu V-Toku 2 high carbon san mai with 10 layer soft cladding.
- handle is an japanese wa-style handle made from a single piece of blue/black dyed and stabilised boxelder burl from
- OVA length is 355mm
- 164 grams
- balances just in front of the heel

Made this knife after the nordic edge competition earlier this year. Client wanted something similar to that last knife just without a pink handle 😄
Luckily they allowed me to make some changes based on their needs, the judging feedback on the last knife aswell as some tweaks I wanted.
I am so happy with the result 😊

Specs about this knife;
- 190 X 58 mm 1084 high carbon steel with forged finished distal taper.
- Dyed curly maple handle with a museum fit up bolster of espresso micarta, brass and black G10.
- 320 mm overall
- 208 grams
- balance point right in the middle of the choil.

These three kitchen tools are all hand sanded up to a nice 400 grit, ready for handle work before being fully finished out. The handle for the first is well on its way, so keep an eye out for more teasers to follow.

Quick fly over of another santoku that flew out the door this week. Forged 1084 with dyed curly maple handle

A shiny bit of bling amongst the chaos and filth that is my shed 🤣

Just some handle work flow with this pair. First is ready for faceting and the second is still getting fit up. No bedding happening here so carefully fitting up to a glove tight fit with no play in any of the pieces. Will be fully shaped before final glue up so has to be tonight!

Who likes alloy banding?? 🙋‍♂️ While the current projects are having a vinegar bath, thought I'd show off this awesome banding in a 1084 santoku from last year

Been slow on social media and production lately as my day job as a cellar hand has taken over all with vintage 2024 kicking off. Extremely limited availability for anything over the coming weeks....butbit never hurts to ask 😅

Nice little upgrades for the work desk. Thanks to 84 Engineering for the great bits of kit!

Finally got this one ground out. 800 grit belt finish. Took a lot of chasing back and forth to get a nice consistent finish. Now just gotta round over some edges and then I can start on the handle. Oh and that's definitely not any blood...👍🙄

Still working away through the final orders for the year in the lead up to christmas. Also still working on personal project as time permits. Hope everyone stays safe in this busy time
