Especially the Expedition134 Boxes. I’ve used these for years and out of all the gear and food storage solutions I’ve used and tested, these are my absolute favourite. No dust, no water, no ants or vermin, no dingoes or goannas rummage through food stores.

The fact they’re Australian Made Campaign and a small Aussie business run by some absolute legends who actually get out and tour remote just adds to why they’re an easy choice.

While they're not technically native, seeing them out in places like this just feels right. Got to hang out with them via the drone for a good 15min before they tired of our presence and headed off.

With all the rain, it felt a bit too green for a desert. Lucky to see the country like this 👌

Overnight stop in the Flinders Ranges back in November last year. A simple camp, but the million star view sure made up for it!

For solo travel I find myself gravitating to intentionally simple camping setups. Less is really more.

“What is this life, if full of care, we have no time to stare.” - Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire

This campsite along the southern WA coastline gave me reason to ponder the above quote. 70 meter cliffs rising above the dunes, the immense stillness punctuated only by the cry of birds of prey, w***y wag tails, finches and gusts of wind from the beach 1km away.

And the privilege of fellow travelers who appreciate the true beauty of such a place. The two days spent at this place will last long in my memory 👌🏼

When it comes to protecting the front-end of your rig, nothing beats a bull bar. More than just a couple of bits of metal, we talked with TJM about what goes into making a bull bar.

Nothing quite like a quick overnight stop with a simple camp that just works. Over the years I’ve found that less is more and having a simple but high quality camp set up makes life so much easier.

My core kit goes in four boxes organised and labeled into the following:
Sleep Box - with my sleep system of tent, mattress, sleeping bag and pillow plus a blanket
Gear box - with my knives, , head torch, handheld UHF, spares, batteries and the like
Kitchen box - with my Kinjia stove, cook set, plates and cutlery, plus condiments in containers
Food box - with all my food stores outside of what’s in the fridge. This keeps it in one location and makes sure that no vermin or animals can gain access

What’s awesome with this setup is that when I get home from a trip, everything easily comes out and is stored in its box ready for the next trip. And the back of my Hilux is free for carrying other stuff.

Expedition134 have just started back in production after a few months, they are seriously a fantastic storage option.

The rest of my kit you can check out and purchase through if you’re looking for quality gear 👍🏼

Just got back from an epic 5,000km overland trip from Queensland through New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

Took a detour and drove over the Brindabella Range just out of Canberra. Stunning views and a fun drive. Can’t believe I’ve driven past this area and never explored it before. On the list to revisit for sure 👌🏼

“There is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” - John Ruskin

This Easter long weekend in Cooloola sure gave that quote a run for its money 😂

From sunshine through to heavy rain, strong winds and a weather warning that saw us leave a day early. We all had a blast, our gear held up and my two girls learned to enjoy the sound of wind gusts buffeting the tent and the feel of driving rain on the face as we watched the wild surf.

Hope you all had a great weekend! ✌🏼😊

Make Haste Slowly

Children the world over possess a natural curiosity, thirst for adventure, care for nature and love of freedom. But as we grow up, somehow we start to loose it – from spending years in school/university to partying and social lives in our late teens and early 20’s, and then pursuing careers that leave most of us desk bound. We’re too busy now to stop and feel the pulse of nature, too educated to stare at the night sky in awe and wonder. If we have a question we google the answer. Smart devices and social media have us seeking another “fix” every few minutes like the addicts we are. We need to escape!

“We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.” – Henry David Thoreau

That feeling of freedom, a search for adventure and deep longing for a connection with nature. That’s what overlanding is all about to us. Join our growing company of like-minded individuals.

Festina lente – make haste slowly It isn’t about tearing up remote tracks in excessively modified and overloaded 4WD’s seeing how fast you can get from point A to B.
