Hannah Pearl is a singer songwriter from the green hills of nimbin nsw.

Her love of music and obsessive need to create has led her on a life of adventure, from singing karaoke professionally in Japan, to busking all over Europe for ten years to singing live to an audience of 8.000.000 on the voice of Germany, whenever life has offered her an experience, her response has been an enthusiastic yes!

The result is a voice that surprises with its texture and warmth….. soothingly soft and fiercely powerful her lived experiences shimmer and breathe through every note.

Now back home to raise her family, Hannah brings her professionalism and honed talent to our local area and we welcome her to play this sunday at the Music Mountain cafe.

This w**d management workshop is FREE. Come along please. You can also visit Mr Weedy's popular youtube channel for beautifully filmed vids about growing your own food forest.

There are Devils in the garden and we need a hand.

On Saturday 28th Sept at 10 am, I am holding a workshop at the Cawongla Community Center to talk about how we can help each other control the Devils Fig. I`ll talk a little about why we need to do something before our paddocks turn into thorny jungles.
We also need to form local community work bees to deal with the creeks and road sides.

Devils Fig still mostly only found in the Northern Rivers. Council, Landcare and the county can`t do anything due to lack of resources. If someone doesn`t do something, it`ll be all over Australia within the next 50 years or less, so I want to initiate some work bees.

After the workshop at the Community Center, we`ll go to The Weedy Garden property, to do some hard yakka clearing them on the 42 acres here. I need a hand, and am willing to give my hand to help those who help me. This is where community really needs to step up folks. Let`s be the ones who start the ball rolling and come to Cawongla on the 28th.

Bring suitable clothing for bush clearing and your saws, machetes and spray pumps if you want to be part of the first work bee.

BBQ, chatting and drinks for the worker bees in the garden or the bush kitchen after the massacre is done. I`ll supply the drinks and BBQ if you want to bring a dish to share of something...or some cake.

The 2024/25 NSW Northern Rivers Bushfire Danger Period commenced September 1st & continues until the end of March.

All open fires require a written permit + the usual 24hr notification advice to your neighbours & to RFS on 0266266922 or online (link in comments). To keep it legal, small contained cooking &/ or heating fires still come with conditions and require the above two notifications.

This season you will be able to apply for a permit online (link in comments). Not all Nimbin Fire Permit Officers will be using the online system. If you choose to use it, expect a call from our Captain seeking details (eg: photos, coordinates, proximity to boundary) of your burn(s), which may still require a property visit.

A reminder that any Triple Zero call will result in a brigade response, so please… the more planning you do and information you provide will reduce community stress and the likelihood of fines.
