On the eve of the final register run for 2024 it seems like an opportune time to thank the tireless efforts of the register captains that make these runs possible.

🚙 23 runs with over 700 attendees that has seen our members travel all over Victoria from Heathcote to Philip Island, from Merricks to Healesville.

2024 also saw the very first EV run and the launch of the Women’s and Young Members groups.

It has been the clubs biggest year to date!

It is no small effort to plan a run - from the route to the dining options. We are extremely grateful to these volunteers and in particular to the register director Paul Sbrissa.

We also take this opportunity to thank outgoing captain Ari, and to welcome Stephen who joins the group as a Turbo captain.

2025 is going to be bigger and better so stay tuned! And if you’re not yet a member, what are you waiting for?

What's New?
One of the major updates is the reduction of the event duration from 6 hours to 5 hours. This change will not only make the event more manageable but also maintain the intensity and thrill from start to finish. You’ll still experience the same action-packed day of racing, but in a more streamlined format that keeps everyone engaged right up to the final lap. Teams are fixed at 4 drivers, so drivers will get more time (and a 13-minute Sunday am practice).

MSCAV are also running the day before, as in past years...

- To ensure safety on the track and to reduce the variance in speed between cars, we’re introducing grouped sessions. The field will be divided into four groups based on nominated time, with Group 1 featuring the fastest cars and Group 4 catering to the slower vehicles. This structure minimizes the speed disparity between vehicles, making the event safer for all participants while maintaining the excitement of the competition. You will be driving among similar cars, similar drivers and similar times.
- There will be no entrant minimum time.
- Within each group, we’re implementing a seeding system that will pace out the cars on the track. By seeding cars based on their time within their group, we can better control driver's ability to match their nominated time without excess (disparate) traffic.
- In addition to the group structure, we will have a max of two members per team in a Group so as to continue to provide for feedback from the Pit Wall.
- The timing and scoring system will be identical to that enjoyed by drivers in past years, rewarding minimum total points per team per total team laps.

More track time. Cleaner lines. The splendour of Sandown.

It has been 10 long years since the Porsche Club of Victoria have graced Calder Park. For the vast majority it was their first time on this track. Combined with the damp track it certainly kept the drivers on their toes.
But by mid morning we were blessed with blue skies, a dry track, and tumbling lap times.
Congratulations all of our new entree drivers who may have been experiencing the race track for the first time and all competitors who placed in their class today, there are lots of new PBs to chase after next year. And now, we wait for the presentation night to find out the final standings of this year‘s 2024 PCV sprint series. Thank you very much to the organisers at Calder Park we hope to come and visit you again next year and to our PCV committee and marshals who work tirelessly to keep us Racing! 🏁

VALE - PETER ‘FITZY’ FITZGERALD | The Porsche Club of Victoria and Australian Motorsport have lost a Legend of the Sport with the passing of Peter ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald.

Born on 19th February 1950, Peter was synonymous with the Porsche brand over a long racing career in sports cars and production cars. He also had success with Toyota, Mitsubishi and Holden.

He first came to notice in 1977 aboard the ex-Ian Geoghegan Porsche 911S, in which he competed in the Australian Sports Car Championship, while he also competed in numerous Sports Sedan events, with several memorable races at Amaroo Park against Bob Stevens in the Holden Monaro.

Peter was a prominent competitor in the Australian Porsche Cup in a Porsche 944 Turbo, and the Australian Production Car Championship, initially in a Mitsubishi Starion and later a Toyota Supra. He won the APPC with both in 1987 and 1989 and two Winton 300s in those turbo-powered cars in the same years.
When the rules for the APCC changed in 1990 to a six-cylinder Ford versus Holden Class, he competed in a Holden VN Commodore where he was second in the title and second in the Winton 300. Also, during 1990, he was still racing Porsches and that same year he won Porsche Cup.

He won the inaugural James Hardie 12 Hour in 1991, together with Allan Grice and Nigel Arkell in the Supra, and later that year he finished fourth in the Bathurst 1000, partnered with Formula 1 World Champion Denny Hulme in a BMW M3, after finishing second with Alan Jones in the lead-up at the Sandown 500.

It wasn’t his first outing at the Great Race though, as he finished 21st in his 1982 debut when partnered with the late Geoff Leeds in a Chev Camaro. His last of eight appearances came in 1997 with Greg Crick, where he shared a Commodore.

In 2003 Peter placed third in the Bathurst 24 Hour where he teamed up with Paul Morris, Scott Shearman and John Teulan in a Porsche GT3 Cup Car. But this was just a part of his journey, as he was also a Targa Tasmania winner and his Fitzgerald Racing Services has been involved across the likes of GT-P and Nations Cup.

Peter was a versatile driver and found his strength with Porsches, first as a front-running driver and then with his Fitzgerald Racing Services cars that claimed the 2008 Carrera Cup with Craig Baird after winding back on his own driving.

Peter passed away in Melbourne on Saturday 28th September at the age of 74, following a long battle with cancer.

The Porsche Club of Victoria extends its condolences to his son and fellow PCV member Christian, his family and friends.

Unfortunately Victoria could only turn on the weather for the grand final and not for the Women’s Run.

Despite the weather and covid taking out a few drivers before we even started, it was an intrepid group that travelled from Gisborne over the beautiful misty Mount Macedon, then out to Pyalong and the starkly contrasting countryside of wide open spaces and boulders.

Thanks to Karen for organising the run, Verdure in Romsey for hosting us at morning tea, and The Lost Watering Hole in Lancefield for lunch. And of course to the wonderful ladies of the Porsche Club Of Victoria and their guests for making the effort to come along.

Yesterday saw the Torque Tube Register have a picturesque run around the leafy hills of the Mornington Peninsula, driving from bay to bay, up and over the hills, meandering along the esplanade and climbing Arthurs Seat.
It was a case of 4 seasons in one day but it didn’t dampen any one’s spirits with a really great turn out of Torque Tubes and friends.
The food by all accounts was fantastic. The company even better.
Congratulations to the Torque Tube captain Jon Tiktin for a great run. It takes a lot of time and effort to put these runs together and PCV is incredibly lucky to have such wonderful volunteers.
