Interested in what it takes to produce over 100 minutes of 44K 360degree video for a screen at the One Ocean Hub at Sea World- Abu Dhabi that is 718’ in circumference by 50’ tall? And oh, by the way, you also have to design the camera systems for shooting this material, AND, you will be shooting most of it underwater, in our planet’s oceans.

This presentation teaser takes you on a nearly 4-year adventure, from the first request for proposal to delivering the final archival elements to the client. It was a completely new experience, so there wasn’t a real precedent to guide them in creating the needed pipelines and systems.

[3D 180VR 8K] Ep3 - Newcastle Bikepaths

Part 3 of Newcastle Bikepaths takes you from the Nobby's Surf Pavillion right out to the harbour entrance breakwater. The return path shows the majestic lighthouse above the cliff of Nobby's Head, as we go up all the way to the lighthouse to reveal the views from above, the ocean and the city, and coming back to the pavillion.
Best watched on a capable VR headset for 3D 180 experience.

Here's to a new chapter in immersive viewing, this is the first Modded-in-Australia Kandao Qoocam3Ultra, shooting 3D 180VR at 8K 10-bit LOG. This custom modification kit created by Siyang Qi in NYC has arrived yesterday and took nearly all day to complete. The painstaking scary process that resembles the tasks of a neuro surgeon is now successful completed and I can't wait to try new ways of gathering and delivering quality immersive experiences and R&D.

Showcasing the latest in 3D reconstruction, 3D Gaussian Splatting creates credible realistic environments whilst maintaining a lightweight footprint for fast web delivery and interaction. Similar concepts can be achieved for object-based orbital rotations or First-Person experience.

Added a bunch of 360 images of the Yuelarbah Walking Trail to Google Maps. Yuelarbah walking track is a great day walk within Glenrock State Conservation Area, near Newcastle. It features a lookout with scenic views, waterfalls and places to picnic, perfect on a warm summer's day ;-) More images in the link below

A big shout out to David Rastas, Curator and Operations at LakeMac Multi-Arts Pavillion (MAP mima) at Speers Point, to make one of my works available in their magnificent 360 projection space, showcasing the newly renovated Newcastle Ocean Baths just a couple of days prior to the opening. Even though only a portion of the 14K 96MP aerial image can be displayed I was pretty impressed with the immersive feel of the presentation.
Reason for my visit was to provide further test material, this time high resolution 360 videos, in order to establish workflows and capabilities for future projects.

3D reconstruction based on approx. ~250 land based 360 images, cubemapped to generate dataset that can be trained as Gaussian Splatter. This is more a proof-of-concept, I was aware that the changing LED screens would not work to create a functional output ;-)
