3DGaussianSplat reconstruction using only 92x 3D180 Fisheye images. This is an encouraging novel approach which I believe has the potential for better and faster outcomes since a 180degree FOV can deliver more image overlap, and stereoscopy lends itself beautifully for depth reconstruction. Whilst not many tools will deal with with fisheye lens intrinsics at this extreme focal length and associated distortion, there is some that do, and now that some tools support nVidia's 3DGUT (Gaussian Unscented Transform) there is a new pathway.
This wouldn't have been possible without the fabulous work of "MrNERF" Janusch Patas, please do support his repository on GitHub /LichtFeld-Studio , and the help and clever ideas from Charlie Pepper Kemp, thank you! More work needs to be done, but this is a step forward in the right direction 😉
