Nine days before the ANZACs landed at Gallipoli came the arrival of Newcastle's Dorothy Vine.
On this day, 109 years ago Dot was delivered.
She is ranked the ninth oldest woman in Australia and celebrated in her nursing home with high tea and a visit from the City of Newcastle RSL Pipe Band, Australia.
The oldest woman in Australia is Victoria's Marija Ruljancich who turns 111 on June 14.
Ken Weeks is Australia's oldest man and turns 111 in October.
