A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Friday 24 January, for the Northern Slopes area.

Council areas affected: Gunnedah; Gwydir; Inverell; Liverpool Plains; Tamworth

Hot and dry conditions are forecast across parts of the state, increasing the fire danger. Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens.

Report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

URGENT WATER RESTRICTIONS FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF MOREE FOR 48 HOURS
Due to urgent emergency works on a distribution water main in Moree, we request all residents to limit their water usage to essential indoor purposes only for the next 48 hours, effective immediately, Monday 20 January 2025. We ask that water not be used for external purposes during this period.

Acting General Manager, Darryl Fitzgerald, emphasised the importance of being mindful of water consumption to preserve water in the reservoir towers for firefighting and other critical indoor needs.

The emergency works will begin on Tuesday 21 January 2025. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, as residents may experience low water pressure during the course of the works.

❌🔥TOTAL FIRE BAN TODAY🔥❌
(Thursday, 16th of January 2025)

Fire Danger Rating: EXTREME🔥🚫

The NSW Rural Fire Service has declared a Total Fire Ban (TOBAN) for today, (Thursday, 16th of January 2025) for the North Western area.

This area includes Narrabri Shire, Moree Plains Shire, Walgett Shire and Warrambungle Shire.

In the event of a Total Fire Ban, no fire may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended. This includes incinerators and barbecues (BBQ) which burn solid fuel, e.g. wood, charcoal or heat beads. No general purpose welding, grinding, soldering or gas cutting can be done in the open.

If you see a fire during a Total Fire ban please call Triple Zero (000) immediately and report it. For further information call your local NSW Fire Control Centre or visit the NSW RFS website www.rfs.nsw.gov.au
