Australia’s biggest independent non alcoholic beer brand has capped off 2025 with record breaking sales as demand for zero percent drinks surges through the festive season.

Heaps Normal posted its strongest two month sales period on record across November and December with around 25 percent growth year on year since launching in 2020.

The brand says momentum remains strong even as January and Dry July typically cool off spending.

The company has more than doubled in size over four years and is now valued at more than 60 million dollars.

Enrique Márquez and Biagio Pilieri, prominent opposition figures in Venezuela, have been released from prison in a move the government describes as a step towards “peaceful coexistence.”

Márquez, a former opposition candidate, declared, “It’s all over now” in a video shared by local journalists, while Pilieri was released alongside him. Their freedom comes just days after the United States seized Nicolás Maduro, adding to a wave of international attention on the country.

Spain confirmed that several of its nationals have also been released, including those detained alongside Márquez and Pilieri, underscoring the international implications of the move. Opposition leaders hailed the event as proof that injustice cannot last forever, while the government frames it as a gesture to consolidate peace within the republic.

Mass protests have swept through Iran with huge crowds filling the streets of Tehran Mashhad and dozens of other cities in what is described as the largest challenge to the clerical leadership in years.

Chants calling for the removal of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the return of Reza Pahlavi rang out as unrest entered its twelfth consecutive day. The demonstrations have been fuelled by public anger over the collapse of Iran’s currency and worsening economic conditions with protests reported in more than 100 cities nationwide.

Human rights groups say dozens of protesters including children have been killed and thousands arrested as authorities imposed a nationwide internet blackout.

Millions of Australians are enduring a severe heatwave as temperatures soar above 40 degrees across large parts of the country, placing communities on high alert through the weekend.

Southeastern Australia is bearing the brunt, with Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia facing dangerous conditions. Hot dry winds and prolonged heat are fuelling bushfires, prompting emergency warnings as firefighters battle blazes amid what authorities describe as catastrophic fire danger.

The Bureau of Meteorology says relief will arrive gradually, with Victoria expected to cool first before extreme heat lingers across much of New South Wales. Australians are being urged to stay informed and follow emergency advice as conditions remain volatile.

US Vice President JD Vance says the immigration agent who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good in Minnesota has absolute immunity, arguing the officer was acting within his duties as a federal agent. His comments come as protests intensify in Minneapolis and questions mount over the official account of the shooting.

The FBI has taken sole control of the investigation and blocked Minnesota authorities from accessing evidence, prompting the state to withdraw entirely. Local and state leaders have condemned the move, warning that an inquiry without state involvement cannot be trusted and risks undermining public confidence.

Footage shared online appears to show Ms Good attempting to flee rather than attack officers, contradicting claims from federal officials who say the shooting was self defence. The death has fuelled widespread anger, school closures and fresh debate over immigration enforcement, accountability and the limits of federal power.

People in Irans capital poured onto the streets and shouted from their homes after a call by exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi for a mass demonstration.

The protests marked a sharp escalation in unrest that has spread across the country, with internet access and phone lines cut almost immediately as crowds gathered.

The demonstrations are the first major test of whether the public will rally behind Pahlavi, whose father fled Iran before the 1979 revolution. Chants supporting the former shah once unthinkable now reflect deep anger over a collapsing economy and growing frustration with the ruling system.

A massive crowd has poured onto the streets of Tehran as protests intensify across Iran. Reports suggest a nationwide internet blackout is limiting access to information, while several state media outlets are either down or facing major outages.

Flights at Tabriz International Airport have been suspended, according to Mehr News, adding to signs of deepening disruption.

Iranian human rights groups say at least 34 protesters and two security officers have been killed, with more than 2000 arrests reported. As connectivity falters and transport is halted, questions are growing over how the authorities will respond to a crisis spreading nationwide.

Around one hundred tractors have driven into central Paris as farmers escalated their protest over rural concerns and government policy. Organised largely by the Rural Coordination Union, the convoy moved with clear intent and strong symbolism.

Protesters bypassed police barriers to reach some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Tractors were seen near the Arc de Triomphe and close to the Eiffel Tower, turning major tourist sites into a backdrop for rural anger.

The demonstration also reached the steps of the National Assembly, placing pressure directly on political leaders. The action highlights growing frustration among farming communities and signals that tensions between rural groups and authorities are far from easing.

Australia has issued an urgent directive telling all remaining citizens in Iran to leave the country as soon as possible, warning that the security situation is rapidly deteriorating. The advice follows days of escalating unrest and comes as protests spread across dozens of cities, pushing the country towards a critical point.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says Australia has no diplomatic presence on the ground after its embassy in Tehran was suspended last year. With civil unrest gripping 45 cities and violence intensifying, officials warn they are unable to assist Australians who may be detained or caught up in clashes with security forces.

The warning follows reports that at least 25 people have been killed during a crackdown on protests sparked by economic turmoil. Demonstrations have since evolved into open political revolt, while travel options out of Iran are narrowing as airlines suspend flights and land routes become increasingly dangerous.

Anthony Albanese has announced a Commonwealth royal commission into antisemitism and social cohesion after weeks of mounting pressure.

The inquiry was confirmed in Canberra and will be led by former High Court justice Virginia Bell, despite opposition from some Jewish groups.

The Prime Minister says the decision is about strengthening unity, not dividing the country.

He pointed to recent discussions with families affected by the Bondi attack and members of the Jewish community, stressing that the way hearings are conducted will be central to maintaining social cohesion.
