Here are the dates of Melbourne Friday friendship group.
This group is run by and for parents with intellectual disability.

Tomato with avocado smash Serves 4

1 avocado, chopped 1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 lemon , juiced Cracked pepper and salt

1/4 Teaspoon paprika 1 tomato , sliced

1/2 cup basil, roughly chopped

sourdough bread/ bread stick, sliced

1.In a bowl, smash the chopped avocado ( so it still chunky).

2. Add the olive oil, lemon juice, pepper and salt, paprika and mix well.

3. Add the basil, reserving one tablespoon for garnish and mix through lightly.

4. Toast the bread and spread a 1/4 of the avocado smash on top and place the tomato slices evenly across the bread.

5. Sprinkle with basil garnish (finely chopped) and cracked pepper.

‼️ Ross House Lift Still Out of Order ‼️

Unfortunately, the lift is expected to remain out of order until late tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

We have been informed that the issue was caused by damage to the lift doors, and currently the repairer is waiting for the necessary part for repairs.

We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter and apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Woohooo!!! What a day!! 🙌👏⭐️
Romeo attended the Sundance Film Festival on behalf of Positive Powerful Parents, where the short film Compare the Parents was recognised.

Romeo was part of a panel discussion that talked about PPP, the short film and the opportunities for short films to make change and stop discrimination. 👌

Romeo looked the part and did really well amongst other panel members who are in the film industry.

Thank you to the Focus on Ability Film Festival for recognising that the Compare the Parents short film was a lived experience story that needed to be recognised: Martin, Paula, Ryan and Jess ⭐️

Thank you to the Positive Powerful Parents Committee for the support you gave to create the film and go along with the opportunities it has presented. 👏

Thank you to DFFH especially: Felix, Francis and Christy who approached PPP and allowed PPP to create a short film resource, and allowed the complete control to the hands of the parents who wanted to share their lived experience. This process was best practise in co-design that we have ever need involved and it was a pleasure working with you.

Thank you to all the parents who have shared their stories with PPP over many years and the parents who allowed us to create this short film using parts of you story. Thank you to the parent actors in the short film: Dr Andy, Mel, Romeo, Sue, Lauren and Susanne. 👏👏👏👏👏

Thank you also to AMIDA and SARU for all the support and guidance to get us here. 😊

This has been wonderful experience and film is now internationally recognised.

Now to get governments to watch the film and engage with PPP to change their perspective on parents with intellectual disability… give parents a chance and keep families together!!

Romeo is being brave…. and going BIG while in America! Hahaha the photos don’t really show how huge things are.

Today we jumped on the train and caught the green line and blue lines end to end.
There was so much to look at and take in.
We are going to catch the red line in a couple of days so will make sure we take more photos!! Here are a couple from today….

Hellooo from a very cold America!
It’s 8.43am and -3 🥶
After a very loooong flight and good rest we have ventured out.
We went to Walmart where Romeo got some bargains and made friends with the local police. We watched ice hockey (blue team is staying at our hotel) We’ve been for a short walk to maccas so Romeo could have a good coffee.
This city is beautiful and surrounded by snow capped mountains.

Landed in Salt Lake City where we are staying for 6 days… it’s very cold here 🥶 and beautiful.
Even the airport is decorated for winter.
