Congratulations Rhema 99.9 Port Macquarie on the solar panel upgrade!

General Manager Werner Egger: ‘This will enable the studios at Rhema 99.9 to use clean renewable energy while helping cover increasing energy costs. At the same time we will be able to continue broadcasting into our local community, without the interruption of planned/unplanned power outages, due to having a back-up battery supply’.

Rhema 99.9 was the recipient of Community Broadcasting Foundation's Development & Operations Round 1 2024/25

Serving our local communities is what community broadcasting is here for - but to help us do that, a number of organisations across community broadcasting help us collaborate, share knowledge and advocate for strong community broadcasting.

At events like the Nembc - National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters' Council conference - sessions include opportunities for women in ethnic and multicultural broadcasting to share experiences and support each other - fostering the next generation of female broadcasters across the diversity of cultures broadcasting in Australia.

The South Australian Community Broadcasters Association - SACBA runs an equipment bank to help South Australian community broadcasters get back on air after equipment breakdown or an emergency - at their conference it's not uncommon to see stations putting their hands up to help each other out.

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia is working with stations in Western Australia to pool resources together to maintain, look after and upgrade essential broadcast tech. Sharing the support of broadcast tech Ben Menaglio and planning for the future together.

and Christian Media & Arts Australia have collaborated with community radio stations and their listeners on Social Return On Investment (SROI) research - to help demonstrate the broader social impact of community broadcasting.

These are just a small sample of the ways community broadcasters and their support organisations are working together - something Community Broadcasting Foundation is keen to support however we can.

Please get in touch to discuss your ideas for collaborative projects ahead of our next grant round in early 2026.

People with disabilities are all over community broadcasting - whether their disabilities are visible or not, their contributions and presence are a rich part of our sector.

Sam Drummond shared at the recent Community Broadcasting Association of Australia conference why it's important to him to be in front of the camera and the mental process of deciding how you want to present to the world when the world has preconceived notions about who you are.

Community broadcasters are promoting and broadcasting local sport all over Australia.

Whether it's cricket in Central Australia on 8CCC Community Radio 102.1fm - Alice Springs & Tennant Creek, the Mackay Indigenous Rugby League Carnival making sure everyone can follow their local teams competing or footy fundraisers like MainFM's The Main Game - we love to see local sport get the support it deserves!

Cricket is alive and well in Alice Springs. We had NT Cricket Coordinator Kesh Keerthi. Kesh is here to tell us about the Girls Smash program from 8-16 years old. The program will be happening alongside the ASCA Women’s cricket matches, giving our young players the perfect chance to play, learn an...

The Hon Rebecca White MP had a special message for community broadcasters who serve their communities in language at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia 2025 conference in Hobart.

"Whether it's multicultural, refugee communities, First Nations communities, ensuring that people get up to date news, in language, but also supporting them with emergency messages so that they can be safe - I just want to say thank you so much for doing that work"

and we couldn't agree more - thank you to all the community broadcasters who ensure vital information reaches their communities in language 💚

Great to see collaborations with groups like Girl Guides across community broadcasting!

Now is the time to build relationships with local community groups before our next grant round opens early next year - having tested ideas and secured support from local groups in advance greatly increases chances of a successful grant.
