The State of Victoria has made history as Australia’s first jurisdiction to negotiate a Treaty with First Peoples, after the passage of the Statewide Treaty Bill on 30 October. And few could have documented the process as closely as Victorian Aboriginal News.

Operating almost entirely out of a van – ‘Violet’ the 2019 Ford Transit – Victorian Aboriginal News is an independent news service focused on Vic Aboriginal current affairs. ‘We had amazing support by way of interviews from the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria, particularly co-chair Rueben Berg, Member, First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria, and the Yoorrook Justice Commission' said Founder, Editor and Aboriginal journalist, Charles Pakana (pictured).

A recent recipient of Community Broadcasting Foundation's Content grant - Victorian Aboriginal News can now be heard on Phoenix FM 106.7 MHz, Triple R - 3RRR 102.7FM, 3KND Kool 'N' Deadly and other stations. 🔗 Read the full story via link below.
