It’s been four years since I discovered Ironbunny and it’s still one of the coolest songs to have come out of Japan. Wish I could find their CD. Japan trips haven’t been successful yet on tracking this one down.

Attention Aussie punk rock bands!!!

Who wants their stuff on display at the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas? I recently went to the museum and it is pretty incredible but there is one thing lacking: no Aussie representation at all. Nothing by The Saints, Radio Birdman, The Hard-Ons, Massappeal, The Birthday Party, Vicious Circle, Order Of Decay, Exploding White Mice, Thrust, etc etc the list goes on. So I want to change that. Someone from the museum has reached out to me regarding this and understands that Aussie punk history should be documented and also wants to feature our stuff there. So i want to gather as much as I can to send to the museum for everyone around the world to see. If any of you have anything that you would like to donate to the cause, please let me know. I am going to punk rock bowling next year and will happily hand deliver everything to the museum. I want to see our music represented there and I’d like to think others would too. You can email me at longgoneloser at gmail dot com or mail things to my P.O. Box address. I want to make this happen. Let’s show the rest of the world how awesome our punk rock history is. I’ve included some photos of some of the things they have on display there to give you an idea. It’s amazing and I hope you can all get there and check it out.

One of the best things about growing up in Adelaide was getting to see bands like TAXED play quite often around town. Was always a hoot seeing them play live and the self-proclaimed “worst record ever made” that they released still gets regular spins on the turntable. It’s a classic slab of Aussie punk rock. It also just occurred to me from looking at this flyer that it was Granny’s Lips first ever show. Crazy! I do have photos from this show and if I can find them, I’ll post them. I assume this was 1994.

Going through my archives, here’s a photo I took of Au Go Go Records way back in like 93 or 94 when it was in Little Bourke St in the city. It was two floors of awesomeness and one of the best stores in Melbourne. Downstairs was the new stuff, upstairs was the used. The amount of $$$ I always dropped in this shop when I came to Melbs to see bands or visit friends or just have a holiday is bonkers!

I can remember finding so many awesome goodies upstairs from Redd Kross rarities, Hanoi Rocks gems, Space Juniors skatepunk slammers, bitchin’ Dogs D’Amour jams, old Waterfront classics, etc. while downstairs was the home of new singles by The Meanies that were displayed on one of those spinning racks. It was a great store and is hugely missed. When it moved down the alley, it lost some of its charm but was still a great store before it unfortunately closed down for good and we all cried. 😭

I miss stores like this. And while we still have some great record stores now, I feel too many of them are sitting there with Discogs open on their comps as a pricing tool which makes me just want to walk out and not waste my time.

Ah, the good ole days.
