We are so thrilled to be knowing that our second book that we’re publishing has so much love and time invested in it, due to release mid year!

Today Krystal Wade shared the following colour roughs and statement with us. Which was also shared on her social media account

“The best part of working so closely with my illustrator, is that I was able to incorporate Stitch into the story. Thank you Janet for listening to my feedback and perfectly capturing him. 💙

Three years ago today, I had to say goodbye to my sweet 18-year-old cat, Stitch. The pain of that loss is still with me, but today I’m filled with so much joy knowing that he will forever be remembered in my second children’s book.

I couldn’t think of a better way to share a colour rough of my new picture book than to also pay tribute to him! 🥰 It feels like a beautiful way to honour his memory.”

Taking a Step Back to Reflect:
It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and compare yourself to others, especially when it feels like sales have slowed down.

Statement from Krystal:
“For me, one of the toughest things is comparing myself journey to other authors who’ve released their books around the same time. Don’t get me wrong – I’m SO stoked for their success, even if a little bit of jealousy creeps in!

But on the last day of 2024, I took a moment to look back and reflect. I went through all my sales data, saw where my books have been sold (whether online, at book launches, markets, or during a sale), and realized just how far I’ve come.

I’m proud of the journey so far, and I know it’s just the beginning. As many people have said, this is a slow race – one book at a time. 📚”

If you’re feeling like it’s not happening fast enough, just remember: progress is still progress. Celebrate the wins, no matter how small they seem.

Our first book featured on Wren Tales Publishing is
Mabel’s Magical Meal which was brought to life with the help of Krystal Wade’s, amazing husband The Design Guy, who illustrated the book. Krystal shares that she absolutely loved working together as a team—especially knowing their son has a book published by both Mum and Dad.

But for her second book, she has decided to bring a fresh perspective and work with a different illustrator. After browsing through Instagram, we found someone whose style really spoke to Krystal.
