STEPMOTHER is back with a new single, and it’s louder, faster, fuzzier and nastier than ever.
Pulled from their upcoming second LP, Vacant Life rips through just under two pummeling minutes of venomous, mean spirited rock ‘n’ roll. Think Weirdos and Germs colliding with the Stooges—filtered through Australian beer goggles. Seriously unhinged guitar fuzz sounds given by Stepmother standards.
No bu****it, just harsh vibes for days so all you nice-guy rockers take warning….

The States have etched their name into the rock from rock and roll with their debut LP, Gimme Joy. From two days in the studio, the band has delivered a glitzed up, red hot record with electric hooks and wails to boot. Straight off the bat with their first thunderous track, Gimme Joy is a fresh gasp of classic rock’n’roll, licks of twang and 60s, hints of Shangri-Las and Suzi Q. This EP/LP is a snapshot, a triumphant foundation, a masterstroke and a tantalising promise of more to come.

fuse 60s rock n roll and glam rock, laced with hints of doo w*p and country, to breathe an electrifying new sound into Melbourne music with bolts of T-Rex and Suzi Quatro.
After releasing their single Carol earlier last year they’ve been turning heads with the anticipation of their upcoming album ‘Gimme Joy’. Without a lick of pastiche, The States are exactly what you need.

The second single ‘Take Me Out’, and presale of the forthcoming LP ‘Gimme Joy’ will be available this Thursday.

The States are Scarlett Maloney (Tuffy, Delivery) on lead vocals and guitar, Joe Imfeld (The Prize) on lead guitar, Paddy Leahy on bass, and Georgie Harkin on drums and backing vocals.

OUT NOW - STRANGE MEMORY

Strange Memory is one of the first tracks that welded together for the band. It was a years-old jam snippet and a headline that had bounced around phone notes - they stuck together straight away. When we first played together it rang like an old soul song feeling, and the refrain fits with that - it’s a simple longing to let go.

was born winter 2024 in Rye, when two pairs of mates collided at the right time -
Jackson Allen, Arron Mawson, Steph Hughes, Shaun Gionis - a mixture of new friendships and decades long musical bonds - there was a rich catalogue of unfinished jams and ideas - their shared approaches creating a treasure map of sounds and experiments.
With mutual influences, endless voice memos, a rehearsal space under the house and some sun, and water - the scrapbook of sounds over time formed into fully fledged songs, and the band into a unit. The energy of the initial sketches continuing into the band’s easy connection, and their figuring out of the stories in the sounds.
There’s a familiar yet unique blend of rock n roll, country and punk, and a shared enjoyment in making stuff from scratch. They follow their noses, and keep mystery in the mix.

Legless 2024 wrapped up!
It’s been a rollercoaster of a year but it’s nice stepping back and getting some perspective at the end of it all!

8x LPs, 2x 7”s & a few represses in there along with some touring etc. And to top it all off our little man joining the mix.
It’s been a wild ride and I thank everyone who’s been apart of it and supported the journey this year.

This label has always been a passion project, my small contribution to an independent music scene that I’m very proud to be a part of and after some well needed time off over the xmas break we will be back with some new bangers in the new year!

Bit of a general update!

I only just got back from USA Tour last weekend and have been pretty absorbed in hanging with the family.

The recent 7” is by far the biggest pressing we’ve done and its over 70% SOLD in presale so I’ve had quite an overwhelming amount of orders to get through combined with all the other stuff.

Thanks to help from & over the weekend I’ll be sending them all in batches over this week.
As always I appreciate your understanding and patience, it’s the only way I can continue through these early stages of parenthood and keep releasing music.

One thing that became very obvious and a little confusing in this batch of orders is that a lot of people are ordering stuff from the Legless Bandcamp in separate orders.

DO NOT order from the Bandcamp App on your phone, it does not let you create a cart due to Apple taking extra fees and you will get stung individual shipping for each order.
Don’t do it to yourself!
Shipping options for me are terrible being zoned as regional AUS.
Sign in through the browser and save on shipping and batch your order in a the shopping cart.

I’ll be chucking a fancy holographic Legless Sticker in each order too🤘🏽
