The fires we are seeing are uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast-moving.

These maps show just how far and how fast these fires could spread by 11pm tonight.

Overnight lightning has sparked new fires right across the state.

This morning alone, more than 40 fires across Victoria had started.

Existing fires have become more extreme – changing direction and moving rapidly.

These reports are a stark reminder of the danger we face.

Today's conditions are the worst Victoria has seen in years.

There have been multiple homes already lost – and our hearts are with the communities who have been impacted by this loss.

Right now, we need to continue every effort to keep Victorians safe.

If you are in an area where you have been advised to leave, you must leave right now if it is safe to do so.

For those who believe they can stay and defend – you cannot.

These fires are too fast, too intense and too unpredictable. Staying puts your life – and the lives of others – at risk.

That means there will come a point when fire trucks cannot get through. When aircraft cannot fly. And when no one can get to you in time - no matter how prepared you think you are.

Conditions will be extreme and unpredictable.

Tomorrow is going to be a really difficult day - and the decisions you make could impact the lives of you and your family.

Under these conditions, being caught in a bushfire is not survivable.

Communities at risk in catastrophic areas are urged to leave tonight or no later than 7am tomorrow.

This is serious. Please don't risk it.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis as an “act of domestic terrorism.”

She claimed the woman attempted to use her vehicle to run over federal ICE agents.
Noem said the officer involved acted in self-defense to protect himself and others.

She defended the continued presence of ICE operations in the city.
However, local authorities are strongly challenging her statements.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey rejected the federal account, calling it misleading.

State officials say available video evidence does not support the claim of an attack on officers.
Minnesota leaders accused federal officials of spreading a false narrative.

Calls for an independent investigation have intensified.
Public outrage and protests continue across Minneapolis.
The incident has deepened tensions between federal agencies and local leadership.

A mother was killed during a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation, triggering widespread outrage and calls for accountability.
The incident occurred during an enforcement action when an ICE officer opened fire, fatally injuring the woman at the scene.

Authorities claim the officer acted in self-defense, stating the situation escalated rapidly.

Family members, however, strongly dispute this account and say the use of force was unjustified.
The woman was described by relatives as a caring mother and community member.

Her death has left her children without their primary caregiver, deepening the tragedy.
Community leaders and civil rights groups have demanded a full, transparent investigation.
Protests and vigils have been held to honor her life and call for justice.

Local and state officials have urged federal authorities to release all body-cam footage.
The case has intensified national debate over ICE practices and use of force.

Why Mayor Jacob Frey Told ICE to Leave Minneapolis

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey issued an unusually blunt condemnation of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a woman was fatally shot by an ICE officer during a federal operation in south Minneapolis. The incident, which occurred Wednesday morning near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue, has sparked outrage across the city and renewed tensions over federal law enforcement activity.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen. City leaders said Good was acting as a legal observer, monitoring federal actions in the neighborhood, and was not a target of any ICE-related arrest. According to the Department of Homeland Security, ICE agents were conducting targeted immigration enforcement at the time of the shooting.

Mayor Frey rejected the federal government’s handling of the operation and the justification surrounding the use of force. In a heated response, he publicly told ICE to “get the f*** out of Minneapolis,” accusing the agency of escalating tensions and endangering community safety. Frey said the city did not ask for, nor support, aggressive federal actions that put residents at risk.

The shooting took place less than a mile from where George Floyd was killed in 2020, a fact that has deepened public anger and trauma in the community. Protests erupted following the incident, with clashes reported between demonstrators and law enforcement.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has called for a full and independent investigation, while city officials continue to demand transparency and accountability. As investigations move forward, the shooting has intensified debate over the role of federal immigration enforcement in local communities and Minneapolis’ authority over public safety within its city limits.
