What a fantastic evening of music, friends and dancing. We're just coming up for air after Sunday's Volume 3: Summer Tales event at .

A big shoutout to these wonderful storytellers. We couldn't put on these events without your willingness to share your tales, some of them being deeply personal stories of your lives.

4 very different tales were told by .dj, .mp3, , and . There were highs and lows along the way and a lot of dancing on the emotional waves of the music.

is busy pulling together some highlight videos that we can't wait to share with you all.

We were sad to miss out on Sounds Surrounding from . We look forward to Vera sharing her very personal journey with us at a future event.

P.s. We'll be taking a break in February as Matt Frequencies and will be busy taking to . But we'll be back in March with a special edition - the Drag takeover

📖 Tale Synopsis - The Book of Divergence 📖

For the first time Tales audiences will be able to choose which chapter of the Book of Divergence to experience.

They may choose to return to Chapter I - Duality to uncover one of the remaining two endings (war or insanity) or they may choose to venture into Chapter II - Unlike You.

Chapter I

Duality is a trial for the ages, chaos versus order - represented by Father Mathew's Sunday Doof sermon getting a rude interruption from Brother Seth!

However Seth isn't just here for laughs... Things are not well in the realm of Hell.

A battle of trance and rock awaits your vote to determine the outcome!

Chapter II

Unlike You is a personal tale of a producer, Boo, and a DJ, each seeking fame and fortune, who get together to create a mega hit in the Megablast!

Unfortunately ego gets in the way, and the DJ takes off with the profits... Boo's vengeance will be a thing to behold!

A dance of love and pain wrapped in breaks and riffs, your vote seals the fate of one of the dancers...

Come down to Radio Bar tomorrow (Sun Jan 28th) to cast your vote and join us in a The Book of Divergence choose your own adventure. Voting for the chapter begins when doors open at 4pm and will close just before 8pm. Votes can be cast near the coffee machine.

📖 Tale Synopsis - Home 📖

"This Tale is Peach’s account of the last 21 years of her life, and safe to say it hasn’t all been fun. Growing up in the country shielded her from many harsh realities of the world, and also hid some very powerful secrets.

From a very young age Peach had an insatiable hunger for life beyond the farm. Her curiosity took her down many paths - some good, some bad - but it was never enough. There was an emptiness and an ill-at-ease while out in the real world. It was too loud, too nonsensical, too bright. Too much. And more than once, she broke.

What happens when you're broken? You rebuild. And that’s what she did. Peach learned to find joy in life, and she learned to fight. The biggest fight was to be believed and understood. Despite many soul crushing roadblocks, at 34 years of age she was diagnosed with Autism and at age 36, ADHD. Understanding her neurodivergence was like being able to read her own code and learning to run it in the typical world.

While learning to operate in the typical world has been life changing, the software that is Peach Thirteen Thirtyseven runs best in its native environment. Somewhere quiet, isolated, and familiar. So just before Christmas, she hatched a plan. She packed up all her stuff and went home. Paradise between the wool, wheat and wine.

What happens out here is a magic that happens when a person gains control of their own destiny. Peach is invincible out here, and you will now experience her at full flight."

An experience unlike any other, The Book of Divergence is a fusion of DJing, Storytelling, Choose-your-own-adventure books and unexpected crowd interactions.

Birthed from the deranged mind of Matt Frequencies and vetted by the chaos controller The Violet Bombshell, these stories are designed to take you on a musical adventure through time, space, order, chaos, love, hell and beyond.

With audience involvement in the form of story selections that determine which chapter of the book will be played at a given performance, as well as what ending of the story will be played - which in turn, determines what music will be played, and an MC of split personalities in the form of Father Mathew and Brother Seth, acted live by Matt Frequencies, the sonic tales are sure to draw you in, while precision lighting and visuals provided by The Violet Bombshell will ensure an immersive experience for all!

This month marks the official release of The Book's second chapter - "Unlike You". Throughout the evening you, the audience, will be able to vote to continue uncovering more of Duality's endings or venture into the new story of Boo and the DJ?

The Books performance kicks off at 8pm following the stories shared by Vera Roze, Peach Thirteen-Thirtyseven the DJ , Orphic Angel and The Brown Beat. Doors open to Radio Bar at 4pm Sunday 28th January.

The definition of organised chaos, The Violet Bombshell has a rich and storied background in events through her experiences at the MCG, Marvel Stadium and Oz Comic Con.

Using her experiences, Violet brings a rainbow of lighting experiences to Tales from the Deck, controlling the atmosphere in the form of projections and lights all run from her VJ battle station.

Violet prefers to avoid the limelight herself, which is why she spends a lot of time making sure it's well focused on the performers telling their stories!

Violet will be boosting the brightness and kicking the saturation up a notch or five for Summer Tales. She'll be bringing a new music visualiser .live and an additional 6 parcan lights. There'll be no hiding in the shadows for this month's DJ's!

It's time to introduce (reintroduce?) our MC in his base form Matt Frequencies. You'll also likely encounter the chaotic Brother Seth and the apparently straight laced Father Mathew. We'll get to know them another time though.

I am a storyteller birthed from the unholy union of a Sega Mega Drive, a church organ and a rave party held in a metal mosh pit. My signature sound is an epic orchestral rise into a filthy metal drop, and I believe in crafting epic narratives with music in my production, The Book of Divergence - a choose your own adventure story that puts the crowd in charge of where the story and music goes.

I've been DJing since July 2023 after winning my stage at the Your Shot DJ competition with a fistful of video game remixes and DOOM metal, tore up the decks at HYPERDIRTY, created my own event for other DJs to tell stories at in Tales From the Deck, and have recently been playing for Yikes Party's nerdcore cosplay themed parties including Anime Rave and Pokemon Rave.

I flex between genres at the drop of a hat and enjoy pre planning and crafting an experience involving fast transitions and unexpected connections, and freestyling a longer more traditional dance floor.

My favourite root genres are Drum and Bass, Happy Hardcore, Hard Dance, Metal, Techno and Jazz.

When he's not busy crafting epic tales with his Pioneer XDJ-XZ, Matt is using his mouth to create music by mixing acapella, beatboxing and whistling to create some of the more unusual sounding covers you'll hear.

It's time to welcome our first interstate performer to Tales from the Deck. It's none other than Adelaide's Doyenne of Donk Peach Thirteen-Thirtyseven the DJ.

🎧 This isn't going to be your usual Peach set! This autobiographical tale will take you through times of unrest and pain, as well as pure joy.
🎧 This will be Peach's interstate debut DJ set! Peach will be jetting in from rural South Australia to join Tales From The Deck Volume 3.
🎧 Peach loves to play high tempo, high energy rave music and her DJ goals are to bring the euphoric combo of laughter, dance, and positivity to dancefloors.

"Peach Thirteen-Thirtyseven is a kandi raving, country-bogan nerd.

Peach is a 20+ year veteran of the Aussie music game scene, kicking off with a chance encounter with a Dance Dance Revolution machine in 2001. This had untold power over her musical influences and energies, and you’ll hear it in her sound - hard, happy, and fast!

The logical next step from the arcade was to the rave. Peach was consumed whole by Adelaide’s lively rave circuit of the mid-00s. Attending parties and venues such as Earth Nightclub and the legendary Enchanted Forest, Peach swirled around in a kandi raver world of fluoro everything, big cheesy grins, and absolutely massive dacks.

After two decades of plastic instruments and long after retiring the phat pants, Peach was reawakened in 2020. She finally took to the decks for-real-life and became a bedroom warrior during the worst of the COVID era. In 2023, she was selected as a finalist in Your Shot’s inaugural Adelaide leg where she performed a tribute to all things PLUR, encompassing the sounds of happy hardcore, memecore, donk and J-core.

Peach lives and works on unceded Ngadjuri and Kaurna land, and has recently returned to her country roots in mid-north South Australia. She now resides in her childhood home surrounded by wheat, wool, and wine. Her Tale will take you on a journey out of the country, into the world, through the madness of reality, and back home again."

Our next DJ is ready to make their mark on Tales from the Deck.

DJ Tkrar will be first up behind the decks at 4pm sharing "Makers Mark".

"In the world of chasing dreams and making things happen, "Makers Mark" tells a story that's all too real. Meet Vale, a go-getter with a vision, cooking up a game-changing idea out of pure imagination.

But, of course, the journey isn't straightforward.

MissKara - aka Kara Towner is bringing something unique to Tales from the Deck this Sunday. Part Sound Healing 🔊, Part Dance Party 🕺💃 all parts Joy 😊 & Healing 💓.

When asked to describe her set this is what mISSkARA had to say;

"As a sound healer I have a process for my sessions. I often begin taking my clients into the uncomfortable darker spaces, in a ritual to acknowledge that which does not serve us. It is only by shining our light on our darkness that we can truly begin to choose a path of healing. After awareness and acceptance of the need to change can we then take the journey into a higher vibration of joy, happiness and love."

mISSkARA will be behind the deck at 7pm mixing a range of House, Tech House and Techno as part of this special experience.
