DJ Optimism DJ & Music Producer based in Naarm // Melbourne

Inspired by a strong appreciation for the '90s to '00s sounds of UKG and Speed Garage, Kyle Donohue reflects on this era in both his productions and his DJ sets. With over four years of experience behind decks and one year spent studying music production, he is beginning to make a name for himself in Naarm’s thriving electronic music scene. r, Kyle has become a regular choice to support world-class artists such as Carl Cox, Rebūke, me, Sally C & more. Since breaking onto the scene in early 2021, he has provided energetic selections at some of Naarm’s most iconic venues including The Third Day, New Guernica, Revolver Upstairs, Glamorama and Electric. Most notably, Kyle has made two strong festival debuts in the past year at both Beyond The Valley (Schmall Klüb) and Sundancer Thailand. Coupled with his love for playing and producing, Kyle further expresses his music-fuelled enthusiasm through running events under his ‘Guerrilla’ & ‘Vibrance’ brands. His dedication to continuously refine the quality of his productions, DJ sets and events makes him an artist to keep an eye on in the coming years.

On Friday the 29th of Nov, I’ll be playing at the new A3 Festival curated by my passionate, hard-working friends from Novel. I’ll be stepping up to the decks on Stage 2 → an industrial warehouse which holds up to 5000 people.

The dedication and love that the team have poured into this festival is truly inspiring, and I’m thrilled to be joining this epic lineup for their inaugural year. With so many good friends on the bill and Guerrilla’s first-ever festival showcase, this is bound to be one hell of a party. I’m very appreciative for the opportunity and I’d like to thank everyone involved in making this happen.

My newest edit “NEED 2 FEEL LOVED” is out now on my Soundcloud!! 🚨

Mixed the vocals from a trance classic with a big reese bass, crunchy drums & a super euphoric piano / synths. This is how it turned out and I’m really proud of the end result.

I’m very grateful for everyone who has helped me make massive improvements in my production & this edit. Special mention to Jove & Baron Von Trax for being legends and steering me in the right direction! 🫶
