Sitting as a spectator for this year's QLDs was different for me, was playing dad duty due to Shantel being in the Lap Scorers tower in that nice copy Air Con. . I dont envy the girls doing that it isn't easy thats for sure especially lapsccoring bikes with sh*tty looking numbers where they are hard to read.
There was plenty to take away from the weekend that's for sure so here are some observations from the sidelines.
The numbers were down this year, maybe riders weren't willing to do back to back weekends with King Of Capricorn, it's a lot of travelling for the riders down south that's for sure, yeah Covid has pretty well f**ked things up there with dates.
The split starts had me baffled, I understand there is 2 different age groups but there was a couple times riders started in the wrong group, BUT when I seen Liam Owen's do it and he realised he had the sportsmanship to wait until his actual class went past and he re joined in last place, not ideal that's for sure but hats off to you Liam.
Trent and Nic on the MC, bloody awesome job you both bring a damn good vibe when you both commentate which is awesome and have great insight into the sport.
Track was rough, it didn't look like the typical Mackay track that I'm use to seeing that's for sure, lots of mixed comments about it, some liked it and some didn't. You get that everywhere though.
Keys to the race was starts, gotta get those starts thats for sure, if you don't you need to dial those finers details like corner entry and exit speed, technique in the corners, late braking and just getting that edge where you can, with a one lined track it's hard, it is doable but it's bloody hard, Dobson made it work snd pulled some ballsy moves off, Holdings did aswell and did scrap paint or stickers. Gibbsy holeshotted and lead the whole race.

#yeahtheboys had a good day watching the riding today, kids loved the air horns, im not sure others did but they will get use to it! Good to catch up with Micky and Riley and watch the boys work their magic

22nd for Brad in the first moto, may look bad on paper but he took a massive fall in the first corner and was in 42nd, charged through the pack hard, passed 5 guys on one lap.
Awesome job to get back on the bike which looked like it would've been bent for sure and to get to where he did and layed some good lap times which shows he has the top 5 speed easily, hope ya not too banged up Brad
They know what to work on and how to plan the next lot of motos now with only the one race today, rest, regroup, recovery.
He rode his f**king heart out and we are proud of you!
