Police are investigating a serious single vehicle crash involving a light Hino truck on the East Tamar Highway, Long Reach today.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 3.30pm.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the truck was travelling south on the East Tamar Highway when the driver lost control resulting in the truck rolling onto its side and coming to rest adjacent to the north bound lanes.

The male passenger of the truck was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

The road was closed for about three hours to allow crash investigators to examine the scene.

Police are appealing to motorists who may have seen the small white Hino tray truck travelling in the area at the time.
