🎶 Sunday Sesh with Justin O'Garey Music 🎶
Welcome to Sunday Sesh, filmed at Disclosed Recordings!
This week, we’re delighted to present an intimate folk performance by Justin O'Garey.
In this session, Justin performs two songs.
The first, Too Good To Be True, reflects on Justin’s experiences as a shy and awkward youngster with little success in romantic pursuits. The song tells the story of moments when things seemed promising, only to end with the realisation that he was being toyed with. Despite its upbeat and catchy sound, the song has a bittersweet undertone. Justin finds humour and inspiration in those experiences, turning them into a fun, groove-filled track.
The second track, Passed The Line, carries a simmering tension throughout most of the track, capturing a feeling of seething anger that eventually snaps as the energy kicks up a few notches. The shift in mood feels like a musical embodiment of frustration boiling over—a raw and expressive moment.
Justin’s sound is raw and analog, aiming to capture the authentic emotion and skill of an artist without digital interference. Every song he writes features a memorable hook—be it a riff, melody, or subtle guitar part—because, to him, a track isn’t complete without one, even the ballads.
His influences span decades, from the rock of the ‘60s and ‘70s (like Free) to all styles of blues, with a soft spot for the catchy vibes of 90s and 2000s pop and rock. Among contemporary artists, Chris Stapleton is his favourite, admired for his soulful blend of rock, blues, and country, his “band in a room” production style, and his phenomenal voice.
