First of all, when Caloy got his gold medal at the Olympics 2024, he made us really proud, to the extent that millions of filos shared posts about his proudest accomplishment. But with fame and honor, the first person that should be the proudest expressed her support to other country athletes instead of her own son which made some of our fellow kababayan very furious.

As a mom, I know she has all the reasons as to why she felt that way. Sometimes, our traditions and upbringing as a Filipino are getting toxic. For me, she should have been more lenient to whatever her son wants especially in choosing someone to have relationship with, he is old enough to do so. As for the money, she should be more transparent to Caloy coz he deserves that for he was the one who earned it anyway. But considering everything, she still and forever be Caloy's mom, we should never forget that. No one can ever repay how our parents supported and loved us even before we are still kids.

As for Caloy, you have the right of your own choices, exercise your freedom and stand on your own ground. But is it worth disrespecting your mom? You were brought up with all the traditions as a Filipino, you should have better understanding as of what our parents are. I just hope that the world will not ask anything from you in exchange for all the tears and brokenness you have brought to your mom.

But Im hoping you fix this in time, after all you are Family,not perfect by definition but should be in harmony.

And to all who have chosen sides, lets try to be empathetic and more sensitive to whatever our opinions are.
