PUNISHING YOURSELF FOR OVERINDULGING??
IT'S TIME TO TAKE A NEW APPROACH!!

Chances are, if you do one of these two things, you are punishing yourself without even knowing it in order to "stay" or "get back on track"

1. Drastically reducing your calories the next day to try and account for what you over consumed. 🥗

2. Trying to out cardio your choices.🏃‍♀️

❌Both are as equally damaging as each other and here is why.

Drastic reductions in calories will result in feelings of hunger, and then become a cycle of overeating, hunger, overeating, hunger, and then your body, metabolism and hormones, will have no clue what's going on (and you end up feeling like you constantly need to "fix" yourself)

When it comes to out training your choices, this can lead to cycles of over training, injuries, and again feelings of failure and not good enough

It doesn't have to be this way, you are one of a majority of people who will overindulge, not just at Christmas but at any given time of the year, and this is a great opportunity to change your relationship with food.

The trick to not letting food guilt get one up on you is to know that overindulging CAN be just a one off, it's not a failure.

Here's how to combat the guilt and have a better relationship with your body, mind and food.

1. Keep moving your body the way that you did before and according to your training plan, there is no need to add in extra cardio or more sessions.

2. Make your next meal a balances one, choose protein, a variety of vegetables and complex carbohydrates.

3. Remind yourself that the bloating you may feel is the result of todays food, currently digesting in your belly. it's not permanent so long as you make great choices around it.

4. Don't weight yourself daily As a woman your body will fluctuate, they may have nothing at all to do with the food you have consumed, and will only leave you losing your confidence and probably your motivation too.

These are some of the tried and tested methods .fearless.females are using to build their body confidence and break free of food fear.

And I didnt share it on my business Page...
I shared this on my story, and on my personal Facebook (where I have like very limited followers) because I didn't want to seem braggy...

Like are you joking?

I've been called so many things, from "a fake", to "too much" to "self promoting" and none of those people have ever even stepped foot into the space that is my business or been a part of anything I have ever created...

Yet their words were playing back to me like someone, somewhere will be offended by my bragging about achieving something cool like this.

So here I am, not so humbly bragging that I was the PERSONAL TRAINER of the QUARTER in all of Goodlife QLD for Q3 (Aug-Oct) for the community I created for my clients, for the tireless work I do behind the scenes for the gym, and because I genuinely give a s*it about the people who walk through those doors (or slide into my inbox)

Because I know some of you have gone out on a limb or been so scared to reach out and ask for help... and when you did or when you finally do, it's so increadibly brave....

What if your goal was as simple as carrying your kids bike for 3km because 2 mins in they call it quits? 🙄😬

HIGH INTENSITY CIRCUIT TRAINING,
IS IT DOING YOU MORE HARM THAN GOOD?

If you've been training for a while in the realm of 45-minute HIIT based workouts and you've hit a plateau... I've got news for you.

And it isn't to do more, harder or faster.

It's that you need to take a second to assess your body and its needs. Depending on your stage of life, your body will have different needs and therefore your focus will be different.

Pre- Pubescent- Understanding these are formative years a huge focus on bone density as it's in this time and the reproductive years bone density reaches its peak.

Reproductive - Keeping a close eye on menstruation and cycles, understanding pregnancy and postpartum training.

Perimenopausal - Noticing changes in cyclic behaviour, energy levels and a new focus to really limit the stressors affecting hormone production. Mood/ emotion may be a huge factor to consider.

Menopausal - Bone density decreases substantially without adequate strength training, oestrogen has dropped, and so will muscle mass, along with increased inflammation risk.

Post-Menopausal - Higher risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke and many other health concerns.

Finding the appropriate training for your life now will help you combat disease instead of needing to treat it later.

Working with the Fearless Females you will break away from traditional gym jargon, no carry on about making sure you're in a deficit or "hitting your macros." No talk about which "zone" you need to be in to lose body fat, or training high intensity 6 days a week, because we talk real life, what you can do in what time you have and the expectations around that. Real training that changes 6 and makes you strong, real nutrition making sure you're nourished and fueled from the inside out.

IS IT POOR TIME MANAGEMENT, OR JUST A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE?

As a mum of 2 young boys who are not in school just yet, our mornings and evenings are chaos. I work 3x 11 hour days and then do admin when they are in bed or napping on the days I’m not in sessions. I am forever hearing “you must be so organised to make it all work”, and I am.

BUT contrary to popular belief organisation does not simply come easy, it has to be WELL, organised.

Scheduling, planning and maintaining a routine requires effort.
In my house this means, Food banking, (cooking extra meals on days I’m home earlier to accommodate for the nights we get home at 7pm) Preparing smoothies the night before so the boys have a nutritious breakfast.
It means booking my training during quiet times of the day (because clients book the “outside of work hours” for their sessions
It means ensuring I have the kids appointments and medical appointments booked around work.
It means booking out blocks of time to do my admin, including programming, social media posts and planning, and podcasting.
It means scheduling in study

It’s a full plate, as I am sure yours is too, and if you’re struggling to make it work, maybe you just may not know where to put your efforts just yet.

So let’s talk about the factors involved in being organised:

Planning - What you need to know to plan is how long will tasks take, travel time, (allowing for traffic) listing the things you have to do, including your self-care tasks.

Scheduling - actually putting commitments into your diary and having it synced computer to phone so it is updated between the two to avoid double booking.

Meal Planning and Prepping - Doing one grocery shop for the week requires planning ahead, what meals can and will we make, then which ones can we refrigerate or freeze for another night just so we can reheat it FAST.

GYM MIRRORS AREN'T YOUR ENEMY!

While you may witness a selfie or 10 taking place in the gym, you may feel the mirrors making you uncomfortable.

This can be because we're taught to not be vein, and that it is "egotistical and arrogant" stare into mirrors for too long (anyone else a divergent fan? I feel it was brought up a little abnegation. If you don't know what i mean... carry on 😅)

The thing is MIRRORS have an actual purpose other than to check if you look cute. 💁🏼‍♀️

Using mirrors; front and side on can give us a real visual on our technique. By watching yourself in the mirror performing exercises you can make note of any adjustments you need to make.

As a coach I will often take a client and show them in front of a mirror what they are currently doing and then how it should look and feel in order to correct an exercise.

I'm a huge advocate for mirrors, but totally understand for some of you this may take some time to be comfortable with.

So my #1 tip for mirror training is:

Don't look yourself in the eye. Focus on the muscle group/ body part you're training and start there. This is a very effective tool to improve not only your exercise technique but posture too.
