🚨 COMMUNITY RECOVERY HUB FOR FLOOD-AFFECTED RESIDENTS – OPEN TODAY IN CARDWELL 🚨

Cassowary Coast Regional Council, alongside State Government Community Recovery, has activated a drop-in Community Recovery Hub at Cardwell Community Hall to assist residents impacted by the North and Far North Tropical Low Floods.

🏠 If you’re experiencing personal hardship, visit the hub for support, grant application assistance, and emotional wellbeing assistance.

📍 Community Recovery Hub – Cardwell Community Hall (Brasenose St, Cardwell)
🗓️ Tuesday, 4 February – from 11:00 AM to 3:00pm
👥 Staffed by Council staff and Councillors

🗓️ Wednesday, 5 February – from 12:00 PM
👥 Staffed by State Government Community Recovery Personnel – help with grants, referrals & support services
💙 Tully Community Support Centre – Wellbeing support, advice & referrals

💰 Financial Assistance Now Available
Eligible flood-affected residents in the Burdekin & Cassowary Coast LGAs can apply for assistance:

✅ Emergency Hardship Assistance Grants – $180 per person, up to $900 per family for essentials like food, clothing & medicine
✅ Essential Services Hardship Assistance – $150 per person, up to $750 per family for loss of essential services for 5+ days
✅ Essential Household Contents Grants – Up to $1,765 (individuals) & $5,300 (families) to replace essential household items
✅ Structural Assistance Grants – Up to $80,000 for uninsured, income-tested owner-occupiers to repair disaster-damaged homes

Vale Simon Townsend.
Australian TV presenter and journalist Simon Townsend has died at the age of 79.
His family said: “In his final days, Simon was surrounded by his family and a mix of journalists, writers, actors, political activists and Italians.
“The conversation to the last was loud, passionate and full of laughs.”

Happy birthday Sir Rod.
80 today...he's survived cancer in 2000, took a year to get his voice back.
In 2005, he finally won a Grammy after being nominated 14 times.. He's had 5 partners and 8 children .
His children range from the mid 50's to 9 years of age
On my show this afternoon I pay tribute Rock'n Rod !
