For Karen Humphries, her time is divided between her home and the Royal North Shore Hospital.

After having her gallbladder removed in October of 2021, Karen was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma. Rare and aggressive, the disease involves cancer in the bile ducts, stationed in the upper GI tract.

What ensued for Karen was immediate radical surgery and chemotherapy to her liver, appendix, and lymph nodes. The cancer spread, and Karen underwent six months of more chemotherapy...

Australia Day activities are taking place across the community today. At Hornsby there was a free BBQ breakfast, followed by 52 locals becoming citizens, free entry to Hornsby Hornsby Shire Aquatic & Leisure Centres until 2.30 pm. There was an outstanding performance at Hornsby Park put on by Hornsby Shire Council with very entertaining dances from Gawura Cultural Immersions and everyone's favourite the Funky Monkeys.

Picture below is from locals dancing with children and the talents of Gawura Cultural Immersions.

A very hot topic is the cost of living, it's easy to think in dollars as the costs have gone up considerably since Covid, but what are the other costs?

MAJOR ISSUES WITH TRAINS TODAY LEAVING PASSENGERS feeling very frustrated experiencing lengthy delays across the rail network.

The bad news is that we can expect more of the same tomorrow!

Expect to see continued lengthy delays, service cancellations and very large service gaps on the rail network for this afternoon’s peak and tomorrow, Thursday 16 January, as the Combined Rail Unions (CRU) continue to impose more than 350 industrial action bans.

Issues will be particularly impactful on the T1 North Shore and Western, T2 Leppington & Inner West, T3 Liverpool & Inner West, T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra, T8 Airport and South, Blue Mountains, South Coast and the Central Coast & Newcastle lines.

Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink have apologised to those who have been caught up in the significant disruption today, stated "with some delays on the T4 reaching nearly 300 minutes." This is a whopping 5 hours!!

Over 100 services were cancelled in the morning peak out of 393; that’s more than 25 per cent cancelled.

The points guide trains from one track to another. Without them being certified as safe, the signals move to a default red position, and the points cannot be moved to switch trains between tracks. Signallers are then manually moving trains through the red signals one by one, leading to a build-up of trains.

Delays then flow through that line, then onto the broader network as our lines are all interconnected. This is what led to the delays across the network this morning.

Safety critical maintenance work was also due to commence on the points at Gosford at midday today and that work has also not started, meaning we are also expecting lengthy delays on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line this afternoon.

Transport for NSW advises "Passengers are urged to delay non-essential travel, leave plenty of additional travel time, and plan ahead by checking the latest updates on transportnsw.info and live travel apps."

“Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink apologise to our passengers once again for the disruption and thank commuters for their understanding as staff at the Rail Operations Centre and across the network work to minimise the impacts of this difficult industrial period.”
