: A 54yo man from Queensland has died while bushwalking alone in Tasmania's Southwest National Park.
Police were called to the Western Arthur Range area on Saturday after a personal locator beacon was activated around 11am.
The man was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene, with Police saying their investigations show no suspicious circumstances.
Police have reminded bushwalkers of the dangers of the Tasmanian wilderness and advised against walking alone.

A family from Tasmania’s Southern Midlands is mourning the sudden and unexpected loss of their father, Shawn Spangler, in a freak accident.
The 47yo electrician passed away on Friday after a fall while home alone, leaving behind eight children aged 8 to 25 - with his former partner Jodi describing him as "an amazing kind selfless man" who was the "best dad in the world" to his kids.
It comes at a particularly difficult time for the family, as their son, 20yo Connor Spangler, is currently in hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm in September.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by a family friend to help cover funeral and medical expenses, with over $6000 already raised for the family.

A blaze that tore through the kitchen of the Mount Field Visitor Centre in the early hours of Saturday morning has caused extensive damage.
The fire was swiftly extinguished and later deemed accidental - causing $100,000 in damages, having been sparked by "combustible materials" left on a bain marie.
The Waterfalls Cafe, which occupies the centre, said its kitchen will be "out of action for a few days" as a result of the blaze but is continuing to serve coffee and grab and go foods.

A car has been completely destroyed by fire in the hills of Hobart overnight, sparking a police investigation.
Emergency services were called to the incident on Nelson Road at Mount Nelson just before 4am, with firefighters quickly extinguishing the blaze.
Onlookers described the scene as "scary", with local residents suspecting the car was "dumped" on the road.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Organisers of Tasmania's Taste of Summer are hoping for a bumper crowd of around 100,000 people over the next eight days, with 30% more tickets sold so far compared to this time last year.
The festival kicked off this afternoon on the Hobart waterfront and features 75 stallholders from across the state.
Organisers say the Taste has changed since previous years and now offers "very little lines" and plenty of seating.
The festival is expected to inject nearly $50 million into the Tassie economy.

Main Road in Montrose has been closed following a serious crash earlier this morning.
The incident has shut down the road between Riverview Parade and Marys Hope Road as specialist police resources examine the scene and conduct an investigation.
A male driver of one of the vehicles involved was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment around 7am. His condition is understood to be serious.

Environmental activists have taken a stand against the Cadbury chocolate factory in Hobart this week, flinging sacks of manure over the fence of the factory while dressed as Santa.
The Grassroots Action Network are demanding accountability for the environmental and social issues which they say have landed the company on Santa’s naughty list.
It comes after sugary water from the factory entering a TasWater treatment plant caused a major sewage spill into the River Derwent last week, along with discharge of 'rotten egg gas' into the local sewage network in July.
Mondelez say they are undertaking a $3 million upgrade of the wastewater treatment plant at their Cadbury factory.

There has been no champagne shower or welcome party at the Sydney to Hobart finish line this year, with the skipper of line honours winner LawConnect saying the deaths of two sailors from other yachts "absolutely" affected his crew.
Skipper Tony Mutter said it was a sombre end to the race, with his supermaxi crossing the finish line in Hobart at 2:35am this morning.
He said this year's Sydney to Hobart race was the "roughest" of the 11 he has done, saying his crew "got a few bumps and bruises" but "came through okay".

2:30am Saturday: Two people remain in a stable but serious condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
: Two people have sustained serious injuries in a single vehicle crash at a campground on Bruny Island this evening.
Both occupants of the vehicle are receiving medical treatment on scene at South Bruny's Jetty Beach Campground and the the Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been deployed.
Police are asking people on the island to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.

: The names of the two sailors who died during the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race overnight have been revealed by race officials.
Roy Quaden, 55, from Western Australia, was a crew member on Flying Fish Arctos when he was struck by the yacht’s boom around 30 nautical miles east of Ulladulla.
Nick Smith (pictured), 65, from South Australia, was a crew member on Bowline when he was also struck by his yacht’s boom around 30nm east of Batemans Bay.
Both yachts have since retired from the race, along with 19 others.
LawConnect remains in the lead of the race, sailing off the coast of Bicheno as of 4:50pm.

An up-and-coming indie pop rock band from Hobart are over the moon after landing their first play on national youth radio station Triple J.
Middle Palms shared their excitement on Instagram after Triple J played their new song 'Runaway Girl' on Thursday evening.
The band, made up of Sam Sherlock on vocals, Floyd Taylor on guitar, Charlie Wilkinson on bass and Callum Waller on drums, formed in high school and has a growing fanbase across Tasmania and the rest of Australia.

: A woman in her 30s died in a single-vehicle crash in Perth, south of Launceston, this morning.
Her silver Honda CRV hit a pole and two parked cars on Main Road around 9:45am, with police now investigating the crash - including the possibility that it was medically related.
Main Road, Frederick Street, and Fairtlough Street remain closed, while authorities are urging anyone with information on the crash to come forward.

Twenty "highly trained" firefighters have left Hobart today to help Victoria battle their bushfires.
The group includes 9 Tas Fire personnel, 5 Sustainable Timber Tasmania firefighters and 6 Parks staff.
They'll be there for 5 days, with another group to be sent on NYE for another 5-day stint.

A kayaker has been rescued from the Derwent River off Hobart's eastern shore after he found himself in distress in the water overnight
The man was reportedly in the water, wearing a floatation device and holding onto the hull of a kayak, between Old Beach and Claremont around 7:50pm on Thursday
Officers kept watch on the man from the shoreline while the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to the scene.
The kayaker was safely winched from the river and is now receiving medical treatment.

: Two sailors have died in separate incidents during the Sydney to Hobart yacht race overnight, both being hit by sail booms on their vessels.
A crew member on Bowline was hit just before midnight, while another sailor aboard Flying Fish Arctos was struck about two hours later.
Fellow crew members performed CPR in both instances, but were unable to revive the sailors.
The sailors' names have not been released yet.
Sixteen boats have now retired from the race, which began on Thursday.

: A 70-year-old motorcyclist has died in hospital following a tragic crash south of Longford this afternoon.
Emergency services found the rider in a critical condition at the intersection of Brickendon Street and Woolmers Lane around 12:30pm.
Police said the motorcycle is believed to have collided with the rear of a white Toyota Hilux towing farm machinery, which was turning right from Brickendon Street at the time.
