This morning from 9.30am at Roches Hotel in Grafton, the former Australian Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion will seek to set a new World record for the most solid contact punches landed in one hour on a punching bag by a male over the of 65 years of age.

His target is an astonishing 15,500 hits, at a rate of more than 4.3 hits per second for sixty minutes (3600 seconds).

“We hope to raise a significant amount of money so that beautiful young Tamsyn can continue to get the support she so desperately needs from her loving family to recover,” Mr Cansdell says.

“Please get behind us so we can make a direct and positive difference,” he pleads.

We have funding coming our way as part of the Regional Partnerships Project Pool Program and we want our Clarence Valley community to talk to us and let us know what you think we need to do in our community to raise aspiration and widen participation in higher education.
Let me ask you some questions.
Are you passionate about post-secondary education opportunities in Clarence Valley?
Would you love to be part of raising aspirations for our community?
Would you love to see more of our community members taking part in post-secondary education initiatives?
Would you love to see greater educational opportunities for our youth?
Would you love to see greater participation in higher education in any particular groups in our community?
Would you love to see greater educational opportunities for mature age workers?
Would you love to see our community being recognised for the opportunities available to upskill our community members?
Would you love to be part of making a difference in our community?
Are you an employee seeking qualified professionals or qualified staff from our local community?
Do you have great ideas, or a program in mind that would inspire and encourage our community members to participate in higher education?
If you have said yes to any of these questions, please come along to our community THINK TANK on Thursday 2nd June and have your say.
We are inviting you, members of our Clarence Valley community to come along and be part of these informative discussions. This Regional Partnerships Project Pool Program is a community-led program.
We would love to know where you want our funding spent, so we can ensure that Clarence Valley is a great place to live, work and study.
Our evening will commence at 5.30pm with a tour at CUC Clarence Valley and then we will be heading next door to the Clarence Regional Library function room for the main part of the evening.

After some course changes due to river conditions, a course rundown and welcome from Ben Sullivan and the Aboriginal Education Officer at South Grafton High School, Kerry Skinner, the Big Clarence Paddleboard Classic got under way just before 8:30 this morning. The paddle boarders will have a tough paddle up river to the Carrs Peninsula boat ramp at Junction Hill before turning around for a fast return back to the boat ramp at the end of Hockey street. Hoping to catch up with the organiser, Ben Sullivan, later today.
