Can anyone wear black? Yes or No? 🤔

Following on from my previous post. Yes you can! But the trick is to know how to wear it. 😀

In my training as a colour analyst, I was surprised to learn that only those with a winter seasonal colour palette, can truly wear black. 😱 A shock to find out as you can imagine! 😂

But the other seasonal colour palettes can wear black too, as long as it’s not near the face. 😊

Take the three celebrity examples in the photos.

1. Olivia Palermo looks washed out in the first black outfit. She has a warm skin tone and the necklace in dark colours together with the black don’t suit her.

In the second photo, the black looks better because it is away from her face, and she has broken it up with a warm tone necklace and white top.

A cream top probably would have been better like she is wearing in third photo - because it’s in her colour palette.

2. Victoria Beckham also has a warm skin tone. The black makes her look unwell in the first photo, because it’s close to her face.

She looks better in the second photo because she is showing more of her warm toned skin and the off white blouse breaks up the black.

She looks stunning in the third photo and is in her season colours which I think is autumn. 🍂

3. Anne Hathaway has a winter colour palette and looks stunning in black!

Her winter colour palette also includes bold bright colours like the pink and red coat in the last photo.

All these signs help to show you that you are moving along the right path. They are there to support you to fulfill your dreams. So be open to seeing them. The more you do, the more you will see. “

Warm vs cool colours - what’s the difference? 🤷‍♀️

In my last post I mentioned I would explain the difference between cool and warm colours on the colour wheel and how they relate to our skin tone.

On the colour wheel there are warm and cool colours.

Warm colours tend to have a yellow/red base and cool colours have a blue/purple one.

Green veins = warm colours
Blue veins = cool colours.

I’ve also included examples warm and cool colour palettes for you to see the difference.

What’s my skin tone colour? 🤔

Here’s a few tips to check what your skin tone colour is.

1. Look at the underside of your wrists near a well lit window. If your veins are blue you have a cool tone skin. If your veins are green you have a warm skin tone.

2. If your face lights up when you wear white or silver colours you have a cool skin tone. Off white or gold = warm tone.
