Ahead of announcing the 2025 Thornton Young Award Winner at 9am QLD time, we want to celebrate our 2024 winner, Paul Ricketts. Over the past 12 months, we've watched Paul flourish as an artist, performing at some of Australia's most prestigious festivals and shows. We extend our gratitude to Blue Shamrock Music, Gympie Music Muster, Heritage Nanango Country Muster, Clarence Valley Country Muster, Dianne Lindsay & Peter Simpson, DEAN PERRETT, and especially Lindsay Waddington Music and the CMAA - Country Music Association of Australia. This journey has been truly rewarding, and we want to express our heartfelt thanks to Paul for being such an outstanding ambassador of the Thornton Young Award.

Three country music legends, three artistic generations coming together to continue to pave the way for Australian country music.

Kelly Dixon, DEAN PERRETT, Paul Ricketts all remarkable story-tellers, creative geniuses and all round top blokes.

Kelly, an award winning singer-songwriter, a legend and icon of Australian music. Writing over 160 songs, 40 for Slim Dusty alone. Kelly has a brand new soul tingling single out with Graeme Connors; Ringers Retired.

Dean is at the forefront of the modern Australian Bush Ballad, recently releasing his track A Big Thing in A Small Town. After winning numerous awards including Golden Guitars, Dean continues to inspire and influence the next generation of Australian country artists.

Paul is working on his debut album, earlier this year winning the Thornton Young Award and is set to release a new single next week, adding yet another gem to his ever growing music collection.
