STATEMENT BY DIVERSITY MODELS
On 16th September 2025, A Current Affair aired a segment concerning Diversity Models which contained allegations that were both unfounded and made without prior consultation. The program's producers did not seek comment or clarification from Diversity Models until I was ambushed unexpectedly in the street by 4 people from the show on 11th September 2025.
We express our deep disappointment that A Current Affair elected not to engage in any formal dialogue prior to this. Diversity Models would have welcomed the opportunity to participate in a transparent and constructive discussion as we have always been and always be an honest and family driven agency.
Diversity Models is a fully inclusive modelling agency committed to representing individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities, specialising and including persons living with disability. We pride ourselves on delivering a boutique, client-focused service, which includes the coordination of all aspects of a modelling engagement—such as professional make-up, hairstyling, and on-site managerial oversight—at no additional cost to the client.
Our agency remunerates models and staff at rates significantly above the Award namely the Mannequins and Models Award MA000117, and above the standard rates offered by traditional modelling agencies. A single day of modelling work with Diversity Models would be comparable to a full week's wage in other sectors.
We offer flexible pricing to our clients, often applying discounts to facilitate broader model engagement. These discounts are absorbed by the agency and do not result in reduced pay for our models. We go above and beyond to deliver value for our clients so that our disability models have the greatest opportunity to be booked for paid open employment.
We categorically reject any practice that would result in unpaid work or compensation below our ethical standards, even where such practices may technically comply with minimum award requirements.
All models are paid for every engagement, with payments processed within 14 days of completion of work. Diversity Models has never failed to meet its wage obligations.
We charge a one-time portfolio onboarding fee to cover the costs of a model’s initial photo shoot, professional styling, photography costs, studio hire, profile set up and agency marketing fees to promote our models immediately. This fee is substantially lower than industry norms and is not subject to renewal. In most cases, models recoup this initial cost within three days of paid work.
Our current modelling pool comprises approximately 60 individuals with disabilities. We do not onboard new talent unless there is a clear and immediate opportunity for engagement and open employment. Thereby ensuring that existing models are not disadvantaged or displaced.
We take this opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to our current disability models, creative staff, and clients for their continued support and trust. Diversity Models remains committed to delivering high-quality, ethical, and inclusive modelling services aimed at building confidence, employability and social participation.
