How the CSIRO is building bushfire knowledge through simulated burns
Australian scientists have a secret weapon in the fight to understand bushfire behavior 🥼🔥🍂
While fires can't be removed as a threat to our landscape, there is an opportunity to better understand how they behave and the factors that influence them.
That's why researchers at the CSIRO in Canberra built the Pyrotron, to test fire behavior and conduct experiments with a level of control that can't be achieved outdoors.

What to do if there's a bushfire in your area
When 'Uncle Bushfire' crashes the party, preparation becomes the key to survival.
Fires can start quickly, so your safest option is always to leave early.
Talk with your household about what you will do if there's a fire in your area, and make a written plan about where you will go and what your trigger to leave will be.
Always share your plan with family and friends, and be sure your bushfire survival kit is ready and you know where it is.
During a bushfire emergency, find the frequency of your local ABC Radio station and follow your local ABC on Facebook.
Check with your state or territory's emergency services, and the ABC Emergency website for warnings during a fire: abc.net.au/emergency
