Tonight on THE PULSE CONCERT HALL ...

You'll hear the music of Bedrich Smetana (pictured), who was born on this day in 1824. And yes, you will hear "The Moldau" at some stage, but it will be played in context of the other tone poems it was composed with. You'll also hear some of Smetana's chamber music and some quite different piano music.

On THE PULSE CONCERT HALL this week on Geelong's 94.7 The Pulse ...

The first of two programs where I take care of some "unfinished business" from last year.
On the 24th of November, I presented a playlist where all the works had the number 24 in common. One of them was the 24th in a sequence and another 12 of them were half of their sequence.
I promised I would program the whole of both sets some time this year. So this week and next week, I will do just that.

Our analogue signal has been restored. Thanks to our technical team who fixed the problem, due to the storms and lightning strikes that happened just a little while ago.

If you'd like to listen to the start of the programme, you can go to our website ... 947thepulse.com ... search for "Concert Hall" in the program guide and click on the recording on the program page. The recording for this program will appear not long after I finish at 10pm.

Hello all.

We've been made aware that our analogue signal to your radio is down. It appears though, that the digital signal through our website and the Community Radio Plus app is still working.

We've got the people in the white lab coats working on the problem and hope to have the analogue signal back up and running soon.

THE PULSE CONCERT HALL returns for 2025 this week on Geelong's 94.7 The Pulse .

This week, James carries on the Australian theme from Encore in the last couple of weeks, with a playlist of all-Australian performances.
Right in the middle of the programme, you will hear a complete performance of Peter Sculthorpe's SUN MUSIC. There will also be music by Richard Strauss, Haydn, Tavener and Beethoven.
