Going through old photos/videos trying to find some footage for a friend, and came across video footage of the first Reel I ever made for a client.

I remember it took me 3 hours to edit my first Reel, which ended up being 44 seconds long 🀯 and I was so proud of myself for achieving this milestone!

What I love most about this picture though is my first babe (who is turning 6 years in a few months), balanced on my hip while I set up the phone for filming. I started this business as I struggled to get hired full-time for any job post-maternity leave (go figure) and took a leap of faith in myself, taking the opportunity to juggle motherhood and small business life.

Rambling aside, this is your reminder that we all start somewhere and it may seem like a struggle now, but time will fly by and you'll be amazed at what you create.

Hot off the (Word)press! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

I've said it once (and twice, and thrice) and I'll say it again - VIDEO CONTENT IS ALL THE RAGE.

Take my hands and let's breathe in and say it together... don't fight the video, embrace it πŸ₯°

Not sure where or how to start? That's why I've whipped up this quick read where I share all my Reel world lessons that I've learnt from my own trial and error of making Reels for 4 years (eurrghhh way to feel old).

(in British newspaper boy accent) Read all about it here! https://fempoweredsocial.com/blog/how-to-make-instagram-reels-for-beginners/

Psst... did you know I also have a journalism degree which included a semester learning TV journalism? So not only do I have social media video experience, I also have a fancy degree on how to tell captivating stories in media (plus several years of public relations experience, literally telling stories and building relationships).

Is caption writing one of those things you absolutely dread?

Social media managers and experts will talk about how important it is to nail your visuals and have the right video content, however captions are just as important in converting followers into leads.

I know all too well how stressful it can be to batch create captions (yes, even I get that creative block!!) which is why I've created this free guide that you can refer to each time you need help with getting the creative juices flowing.

And because nothing lights my fire more than helping you succeed, I've also included 5 free caption templates you can use and repurpose for your own socials!

Enough chatter from me πŸ‘‰ download your free caption writing guide here:

⚑️new services incoming!!

There's nothing like reinvention, and this is a big one πŸ”₯

One of my favourite parts of the job is getting to help female small business owners have that lightbulb moment - you know when you're just so confused about something and then when someone shares a tip, you go 'aha! I get it now!'.

Doing 1:1 social media management is fantastic as it means I get to help you with the whole kit and caboodle, taking the pressure of content creation off your shoulders and allowing you to do what you do best.

However it also means that I don't get to help as many of you, which is why I've chosen to close down the social media management part of my business - and created new services that allows me to support more small businesses! (https://fempoweredsocial.com/services-new/)

From 1 July, I'll be offering:

πŸ’₯ customised captions, where I will provide 12 captions + hashtags written specifically for your business (no copy and paste templates here) that you can repurpose over and over again.

πŸ’₯ Reels editing and creation: send in your raw videos and photos, and I'll create 5 Reels that you can start using straight away. For businesses in Geelong and Torquay, I can also come out to your business to film and edit your Reels, sent straight to your inbox.

πŸ’₯ social media training: this one's for those who are completely new to social media and have little to no idea of how to set up a page, create a post or find their analytics. This is 1.5 hours of 1:1 training, and you'll get a bunch of resources to keep helping you afterwards.

There'll be limited spots for these each month so if you're keen and ready to jump in, join the waitlist today and I'll reach out to you in the next couple of weeks to tee it all up!

😜I'm still here! It's been super quiet on here lately as I've been working behind the scenes on a slight business shift. Never fear - I'm still offering social media services, just more affordable and tailored to your needs.

In the meantime - if you're struggling to keep up to date with the green flags and red flags of social media, download my ultimate social media checklist I've created just for you! It's everything I know jam-packed into a document that you can print out and keep handy on your desk.

And if I've missed anything that you really want to know, send me a DM!

Social media can be good and bad... the bad part is when we start creating competitions in our head against others in our industry.

So this is your cue to get out of your head, and start channelling that energy into creating damn good content.

Because you have it in you to create content that will wow your audience and leave little doubt that you are the best at what you do.

Go on, hush that little voice and jump on Canva and start creating.

(almost) 4 years, 30+ clients, so many sparkly, happy moments ✨

At the risk of being a cliche, it's not been easy. And the saying that social media is the highlights Reel is the absolute, goddamn truth.

Among those tough moments though have been absolute highs like:

⚑ running social media campaigns for a music festival, a fashion festival, and an art prize

⚑ teaching so many women how to nail social media through workshops

⚑ launching an online course (it's in the bio πŸ˜‰)

⚑ investing in myself so I can be a better businesswoman and leader

⚑ connecting with amazing like-minded humans who are driven by passion and a desire to do good in the world

Swipe across just to see SOME of the clients I've worked with throughout the years - and if you don't see yourself in there it's not because I don't love you! I just couldn't fit you all in πŸ˜‚

From a solopreneur to a team of 3 (Ivy, my VA & Ciara, my graphic designer who's been responsible for slaying my visual content) I can't wait to see what the next 4 years bring.

I want to share an important lesson I learned before I turned 30...

When I was 28, I had moved back home after living overseas for a year. I was broke (literally had under $100 in my bank account) and was on the hunt for a job.

Luckily my old job had become vacant, and my old manager offered my the role. It paid more than when I was in it a couple of years ago which was great! I quickly rebuilt my savings, started studying and generally enjoying my life.

Then a year later, I was offered another role with an organisation I had always admired - the catch? The pay was $20k less, and I had to work the odd weekend.

What would you have done?

If I had been offered this job 3 or 4 years earlier, I would have declined because it would be CRAZY to take on a job for that much less, and with an extra amount of responsibilities and tasks.

However, at this stage of my career, I was more than ready to branch out and expand my skill set, so I said yes! And I didn't regret it one bit - I only stayed in the role for a year however I learnt SO much, got to develop my skills in an area of interest (community engagement) and meet the most incredible and talented creatives.

The lesson in the story? In business we're taught to aim for the high paying clients, to always charge what we're worth etc etc. There is nothing wrong with this, and I agree - you SHOULD be charging your worth.

However, sometimes a job is more than just money - it's the intangible experience and benefits that help build your career in ways that money can't.

So if you come across an opportunity that may not pay as much, you need to ask yourself: is this going to lead me to the higher ticket client or customer, and is it worth sacrificing the income now for the future payoff?

I'd love to hear your own stories where you made sacrifices in your career, and the incredible outcomes as a result of it πŸ‘‡πŸ½

Every once in a while you come across a person whose passion is so infectious and you know the world needs what they're offering.

That's what Sam, from Igniting Your Goddess is - a powerhouse whose vision to help women overcome the fears around birth trauma is so needed right now.

When I met Sam, her business was in its infancy stage and she needed some guidance and support as she established herself on socials.

As we dived deeper into her challenges, we found opportunities to develop her overall digital marketing strategy, providing support in updating her website and implementing email automations.

After working together for a few months, Sam's confidence in herself and her offering grew and she was starting to book out workshops, generating 1:1 client leads and building her brand awareness in the community - a huge win!

Helping small business owners tap into their passion and potential, and showcase this on socials is at the heart of what I love to do and working with clients like Sam is an absolute privilege πŸ™πŸ½

In January I got to collaborate with a dream client 😍

And what was even better? The content I created for them has gotten some great results so far which is a win for both of us!

Late last year, I approached the incredible Jo from Splatters Cheese Bar (yes, Australia's only cheese train!) about creating Reels together, and she jumped on board straight away *cue internal screaming*

We got 2 hours of footage with some very lovely locals participating to be in the video - a brave task! - and I created a range of Reels that were entertaining, focused on storytelling and creating social proof.

Swipe to check out the videos and the stats generated so far πŸ“²

Don't leave 'making Reels' as an item on your to-do list... let's tick it off together! Drop a ⚑in the comments and I'll send more details on how I can help you get results from your Reels.

You're going to hate me for saying this but...

Video content is what you need to be doing more of if you want to build brand awareness on socials πŸ’£πŸ’£

Yes, photos and graphics still are important (especially as storytelling tools), however if you want more eyes on your brand then video is going to get it for you.

New to video content creation? πŸ‘‹πŸ½ heeeyyyyy I'm here to help.

Drop me a DM for the link to my FREE masterclass on creating video content easily - it's a great intro to creating videos and will help you navigate the basics.

🏡️ Want to know why some social media managers are better than others?

Because we know that a great social media strategy is rooted in marketing 101. With a little bit of public relations 101.

That's why when you hire a social media manager, instead of asking how many followers they have and their Reel views, ask them if they've ever worked in marketing or advertising. Question them on the principles that informed their own social media strategy.

There's a difference between creating good content, and creating good content that converts into sales. And social media managers with that marketing background will understand how to complete that journey from follower to repeat customer.

So if you're looking at hiring me, feel free to question my credentials and grill me on my experience - I owe you that as a potential paying client.

Let's keep it positive and share some of the amazing experiences you've had with talented social media managers!

🏡️ As we get closer and closer to 2024, it's easy to get caught in the trap of questioning whether all the late nights, tears and frustrations have been worth it.

We're often sold the dream of working 5 hours a week, earning 10k, 20k per month and living the dream life.

But like everything else in your career, you still need to work hard to get results and at times it all feels like its for nothing.

I get it, I've been there. In fact that was me a month ago. On the phone in tears to my husband, questioning why I was even bothering with my business anymore.

I knew it was just a season, a small bump but it was so hard to see beyond that in the moment.

So this post is for you, if you're feeling like everything is going wrong, that every decision has been for nothing, and you've wasted all this time on something that's not working out.

Hang in there, persevere and remember that you can control how you respond to every crisis that occurs.

Share this with someone you know who is going through a rough patch in their business to remind them that success lays on the other side of self-doubt.Β
