An AusNet spokesperson has shared these pictures of powerline damage along with this statement:

"At approximately 12.40am this morning a large tree brought down powerlines on the corner of Cowslip St & High St Violet Town, leaving 4,500 customers without power.

"Crews attended the site in the early hours of the morning to assess the damage and 10 other poles were found to have damage.

"Our control room worked to restore power to as many customers as we could.
Tree clearers have been brought in to safely remove the tree from the line and then crews will rebuild the infrastructure.

"We anticipate power will be restored by 5pm today.

"We apologise for the inconvenience."
