When Queen Elizabeth II visited Darwin in 1977, it seems someone forgot to brief her on the Aussie rules grand final match she attended. She wore a red and white dress - the very colours of one of the teams. Here’s St Mary's Football Club's former president, and the longest-ever running president in AFL history, Vic Ludwig, describing the crowd's reaction. An excerpt from my short documentary Uncle Vic on (https://iview.abc.net.au/show/uncle-vic) and currently touring as part of the NT Travelling Film Festival.

Excited podcast is now released - the series digs into 30 years of police corruption in Queensland and how the women the crooked officers exploited - the madams, s*x workers, entrepreneurs - would be their ultimate demise.

How to LISTEN? Search “dig” on your favourite listen app.

I hope those who love a good yarn take the time to listen and enjoy the stories of four women and how they each played a role in challenging the corrupt system. It was a privilege to bring their stories together in this series.

Worked with a fantastic team at ABC Audio Studios - from journalist and author, and our presenter and producer Matthew Condon who has spent his career following this wild chapter in Queensland’s history and the producing team including ever-perceptive and creative executive producer Clare Rawlinson, our super producer Cheyne Anderson, and two talented producers and fact checkers Phoebe Hosier and Jim Malo.

It takes a village to raise a podcast. We also had a fantastic engineer Simon Branthwaite and composer Hamish Camilleri weaving their audio magic, as well as insightful script editors Sophie Townsend and Michael Dulaney … and the expert ears of the wider team at Audio Studios and Radio National.

A privilege to work with Indigenous Carbon Industry Network to create a series of social media videos off the back of this year's Savanna Fire Forum that talks about the outcomes of the work and key issues facing Indigenous land managers, scientists and the global market.

Weave Films loves telling important stories and it was a pleasure to work with Menzies, Monash University and Arnhem Land Progress Association and communities to show this vital research in action. It’s just been published in the Lancet! We made one 5 minute documentary and then a series of shorter videos for social media.

It's good to see our friends in South Australia have found a way to keep moving forward during the coronavirus pandemic. If you haven't seen it already, the SA Film Corp have launched a fabulous tool covid-safe assessment tool. Speaking of good things, a welcome announcement from the Federal government - $400 million dollars to ramp up attracting productions - because that will mean jobs for lots of people who have been struggling during this new world order.

The creative team at Closer Productions has resumed pre-production on the ABC comedy ‘Aftertaste’ (working title), which stars Erik Thomson as a temperamental chef, using a new risk development tool. Advertisement       .

From news to drama and everything in between - the cuts to the ABC stop our stories from being captured and told, and removes the ABC from its very own communities. We've seen cuts across everything from local sport to classical concerts, the axing of local current affairs, less radio shows being made locally and a significantly diminished pool of funding for documentaries and drama. And as Australians turn to Netflix, Amazon Prime and the like during COVID-19 lockdown, the government continues to struggle to find the will to enforce local content quotas - a move that would be a major game changer to the local industry and create a renaissance of Australian content being made. This report is depressing.

It's even worse than it looks.
