👉Service - Ensure your customer service is exceptional and go the extra mile when you can. Your customers will not only remember great service they will also be more likely to refer other people to you.

👉Nurture - Have strategies in place to nurture existing customers, such as staying in contact with them via an e-newsletter or letting them know about promotional events ahead of time.

👉Social media is a great place for your business to become a solution to these problems.

🤬 How often have you sat looking at your phone or desktop staring straight through the screen while trying to come up with an idea for your next post?

It can be super time consuming looking for inspiration when it comes to creating content, but if you have a few good sources of information and inspiration that you can constantly call on for your next idea. It will save you massive amounts of time in the future.

There are so many more places you can get great content ideas but these are just my favourites. Try them out (including your mistakes) or find your own sources that suit your industry. Either way, having a few good go-to sources of inspiration is much better than staring at a screen for hours because your brain isn't working properly when you want it to.

Growing your social media platform organically is always going to take some time.

If you are willing to put in the time and effort to engage with your audience, no matter how small.

You will soon enough see the engagement being reciprocated.
If you are consistent and maintain momentum your profile will eventually snowball and grow faster every day.

Until then the best thing you can do is be patient.
Don't try and rush things.

Don't force people to communicate with you by spamming their inbox.

Definitely don't buy followers. That will never have a positive effect
in the long run.

Are you wasting time every day deciding what to post?

Do you have a plan for your content on social media or are you just winging it?

🤨 Do you plan daily, weekly, monthly, NOT AT ALL? 😫

Having a clear plan for the content you are going to post in the coming weeks can not only save you massive amounts of time each day but also helps to keep your messages on brand and focused.

Coming up with quality post ideas can be quite time consuming so if you set aside a decent amount of time each month or week to come up with a range of topics or ideas you know your audience will value, you can put together a whole bunch of posts that are relevant, on-topic and best of all pre-scheduled to post.

☀️ So now all you have to do throughout the rest of the week or month is monitor your engagement and respond to your audiences comments instead of twiddling your thumbs for half an hour each day deciding what to post. 💪

It's also something that is quite often completely overlooked by small business. Unfortunately, it can also be one of the most valuable ways to learn about your business and the way it is perceived.

By monitoring and tracking anything that mentions your brand or is relevant to your brand on social media you can discover what people are saying about you and your competitors.

Hopefully, everyone is saying good things about your brand and you definitely want to give those people recognition. However, one of the most crucial reasons for conducting social listening is to be aware of any negativity being directed towards your brand.

If you can react appropriately to this in a timely manner and solve the issue that the consumer had, you are well on your way to converting that negative back into a positive.

🤩 UGC - User Generated Content is one of the most valuable forms of content you can take advantage of for your business.

Not only is it free it is also authentic as people know it hasn't been created by a marketing team. This, in turn, builds trust from your audience. It also saves you mountains of time when it comes to content creation as it's already been created for you.

UGC is any form of content that someone outside of your business has created. It could be a review or testimonial, maybe someone has mentioned you in their blog, vlog or on social media.

Provided it speaks positively of your business all you need to do is ask the creator of the content if you can use it and hey presto you have some great sharable content ready and waiting for you.

If you discover UGC that speaks negatively of your business you will want to address that as quickly as possible and provide a solution for that person. This highlights the importance of conducting Social Listening but that's a subject for a whole other post.

So keep an eye out for who is mentioning your business. Advocates of your business are like gold. So treat them well.

Are you really adding value to their day or are you just showcasing another thing that will hopefully make you money?

Social media is very heavily utilised for marketing these days. We all know that. However, at the end of the day, all social media platforms are still a place for socialising.

If people are following your page or profile it's because they are interested in what you have to say. Your story, or message. Whether you choose to voice that via text, images or video that’s up to you but it's your story or message they want to see.

They already know you're a builder or a plumber or an accountant or a florist. So you don't need to keep reminding them of that. What you need to keep letting them know is why they need your service or product. They have a problem. You need to offer them a solution.

So just like I'm doing in this post. If your problem is that you don't know what to post for your business in social media. The answer is - Content that is valuable (educational / informative / funny / emotional etc.) to your audience.

If you're just starting out or have realised it really is time to get serious about social media for your business. Start improving by following the three fundamentals of basic social media marketing practices.

🔥 Have a strategy in place. Make sure you know where you need to be, at what time and who you are talking to.

🔥 Let your audience know who the person or people are behind the brand. It will humanise your brand and give your audience more confidence to trust you.

🔥 Start conversations with your audience. People love to be recognised and appreciated. If you initiate engagement with your audience they will be so much more likely to remember you when it comes time purchasing.

It's because they follow a heavily defined marketing strategy, they know what their brand represents and what their image portrays. They also understand who their audience is. It's you right? And you love their posts? So that means they have got it right.

Start with these 3 steps,

1. Find your Voice
2. Define your image
3. Set your tone

Once you have achieved this you need to stick to your brand guidelines and be CONSISTENT.

Veering off course from your defined brand message can, a lot of the time, do more harm than good.

Be true to yourself and your brand and remember to take note of what is working and what isn't so you can adjust accordingly.

If you are a landscape gardener and you want to target people aged 40 - 60 yrs old living on acreage properties it's probably best not to post stuff about inner-city courtyard designs.

That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with your content, It just means that it won't resonate with your ideal audience.

Once you've figured out the type of audience you want to target, you can better tailor your content to suit their needs. Yes, that's right. THEIR needs. Not yours.

If it does suit their needs they will find your content more valuable and will be more likely to engage with it and maybe even tell their friends about it.

Yes, of course, your loyal followers want to see your new products and hear about your new services. They are beneficial right? To your LOYAL followers, YES. To the rest of your audience, you are just another brand pushing your product in their feed.

If you focus on your content being EDUCATIONAL, ENTERTAINING or INFORMATIVE i.e. something that addresses the needs of your audience and wants, you're already halfway there to turning them into loyal followers as well.
