It’s been a very big and emotional week for us. After saying our farewells to Mandy, we took some time to reflect and celebrate her time with us. We listened back to all the marvellous music she has produced over the years. From the first song we ran through her circuits back in 2013, to the final album she completed earlier this month.
The new beginning. . . On Wednesday afternoon our head engineer Cameron Mitchell made the 400 odd Km round trip and Mandy’s successor “Calfred”, a Soundcraft MH3 (Cali for short), arrived at 9pm that night.
Thursday morning, work began to unload and install this 92kg beast (210kg including the roadcase). A huge thanks to Ricky Saunders for your help and extra muscles! Our resident Producer Linda Weston for the encouragement and support, and of course Gordon for your words of wisdom and helping keep the crew hydrated with beer 😂.
Friday afternoon, Calfred was powered on, and passed audio for the first time in our studio!
There is still much to be done. New cabling, patch bays, tie lines and re-racking outboard gear etc… during this time, other parts of the studio will undergo some much needed TLC and refurbishing, from the bathroom and kitchen facilities to the Green Room which has been closed off for a number of years.
We hope to be back online and fully functional no later than early November. Celebrations and maybe a small gathering to come!
Stay tuned to see the transformation. More
