CRUZIN MAGAZINE #286
Drop Tops – who would have thunk we pulled together a handful of convertibles for a mid-winter edition?
The historic city of Bendigo provides countless backdrops for hot rod photo shoots, and we were pleased to capture Gary Brown’s rare and beautiful 1932 B400 Ford Cabriolet on a slightly damp morning on the tail end of the Street Rod Nationals. A deserving ride for sure, but no less is its cover companion in the form of Bowie Pollard’s LS’d and air-bagged 1959 Corvette. Rounding out our trio of roofless rides is Mark O’Brien’s 1946 Ford, coerced through its metamorphosis by Cahill’s Speed Shop in Brisbane.
Did we say Nats? Yep, you’ll find our coverage in this issue, Cruzin-style, but we’ve got some more stories to tell from this mega-event so stay tuned.
If getting out to the country is your thing, you might want to start with the Temora Rod Run, which we visit in this edition. If that’s not quite far enough, ride with Chad Silvey and his custom single-spinner Ford for a 4,000km road trip encompassing four capital cities with some outback adventure in between!
For the salties, we’ve got an update on the Bronze Aussie Commodore’s performance at DLRA Speedweek, Kiwi Craig Counsell visits the Moonshine All American Day, Alan Barton cuts up another model kit, and we revisit the artwork of Kate Cook.
Last but not least, we put the spotlight on a home-brew FJ Holden custom, reminiscent of a 1970s build, with a charming story behind it.
