The mobile Breastscreen Queensland van is set up in Jack Morgan Park (beach end) and is offering FREE screening for women over the age of 40. No GP referral is needed, simply make an appointment via 13 20 50 or by dropping by the van.

👮 POLICE BLITZ ON EV DEVICES 👮

A two-day operation on November 2 and 3, led by officers from Coolum Beach with support from the State Road Policing Taskforce saw more than 10 e-motorcycles, e-scooters, and e-bicycles seized.

Sergeant Joel Bryant said police were disappointed with the lack of compliance by electric bicycle, e-scooter, e-skateboard and motorcycle riders, with a high number of young offenders flouting the law.

“Not knowing the road rules of a vehicle or device you are operating, is not a defence”.

“Riders are risking serious, life-changing injuries, or worse”.

“Many of the e-motorcycle, e-scooter and e-bicycle fatalities in Queensland, have occurred when the riders have been travelling less than 20km per hour”.

Sergeant Bryant said Sunshine Coast residents can expect to see more road trauma reduction operations in the future.

In a first for Sunshine Coast police, drone technology was used as part of the operation to assist officers in gathering evidence and tracking offenders.

Turtle nesting season is here and you will see the highly trained TurtleCare and Coolum & North Shore Coast Care volunteers walking Sunshine Coast beaches, looking for tracks. We are asking for your help 💚

💡❌ Switch off your outside lights from 8pm as light pollution is distracting for turtles and hatchlings.

🗑️ Make sure you take your rubbish with you from the beach so the turtles have a clean environment to lay their eggs in.

🏖️ Please take care and stay clear of the dunes.

🐢 Report turtle tracks, new nests and emerging hatchlings to our Turtle Care hotline or Coolum and North Shore Coast Care.

👀 For sightings on the southern end of the coast call 0437 559 067 and for sightings from Maroochydore north call Coolum and North Shore Coast Care on 0478 435 377.

⛈️‼️ STORM WARNING ‼️ ⛈️

Thursday 4:45pm - there is a damaging storm making its way towards our region. More from the Bureau of Meteorology below 👇

The dangerous storm is likely to produce destructive winds, giant hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding.

Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
* Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and emergency services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

🚓 COOLUM RBT 🚓 ▪️Coolum Police breathalysed more than 400 motorists on Thursday, November 30 at a static roadside breath test site along Quanda Road in the Coolum industrial estate. ▪️Eight traffic infringement notices (TINs) were handed out. ▪️Of those notices, one 59-year-old Coolum Beach man was charged with driving almost double the general alcohol limit (0.096). ▪️A 44-year-old Coolum Beach man was charged with driving while a relevant drug is in their blood or saliva. ▪️Throughout 2022 and 2023, there have been more than 60 traffic crashes involving injuries in the Coolum division, one tragically resulting in fatality. ▪️Sergeant Joel Bryant of the Coolum Police Station said police will be out and about these school holidays, ensuring everyone abides by the road rules. “We want all road users to survive the drive and get home safely,” Sergeant Bryant said. “There will be an increase in vehicle intercepts, roadside breath and drug testing and enforcement activities by police between now and the New Year festive period.” 🎥Queensland Police Service
