104.1 CHY FM began in December 1973 by local Salvation Army Pastor, John Townsend, who saw the need for suitable opportunities and activities that would help develop life and communication skills and engagement for regional youth and give them a voice in their community.

g and empowering volunteer opportunities for those who seek to make a valuable contribution to the community through the medium of radio by providing industry-based radio broadcast training, opportunities and mentoring. Our mission at 104.1 CHY FM is to Entertain, Inspire, Inform, Educate and give a voice to the youth of the Coffs Harbour area. 104.1 CHY FM brings back the excitement, passion, expression, energy, personality and exuberance to radio.
